he spent the whole chat trying to defend this against Lebron homers. He makes very good points.

Lol @ the people bashing Rose.

It speaks volumes regqarding whethere any of the posters have played organized basketball. This isnt NBA 2k11.

Rose had the ball for EVERY possesion. It was his decision. No second initiator and his teammates were defensively oriented.Heck Joakim Noah cant make a layup.

Noah and Boozer both missed half the season and Derricks only reliable outside shot player was Korver.

Ric Bucher is right.

Give Rose Joe Johnson and Josh Smith and I guarantee you he tears the cHeat a new one.

lebron is still the best player in basketball. Can Rose over take him one day? yes.

Thats not to say lebron will always be the best as he is currently 27 and Rose is 22. Sky is the limit for Rose as he has yet to reach his potential yet.

I agree with this. LeBron has the edge, but that doesn't mean Rose won't ever be the best. It's also very easy to be that good when you have that kind of help, which is why LeBron jumped ship for a superteam. Rose had to carry a much bigger burden. That's not an excuse. LeBron came through in the clutch, and Rose didn't. Rose still has some learning and growing to do.

I really don't like discussions about: "Who's the better player - Lebron or DRose?" Discussions like that make no sense!

+1

I see Rose & Blake Griffin as the 2 legitimate challengers to Lebron as the best player in basketball. Neither are there yet but both have the potential to take that spot.

LeBron is the best in the game right now.

Rose has to be clutch before he's even discussed about being better than Lebron. He couldn't even hit a FT to tie the game.

Rose is damn good, but cmon.

Bucher has been known to be anti-Heat this year. He just can't admit when he was wrong. He's damn close to Bill Simmons territory.

I believe hes only 26, not 27

and I love Rose but he is NOT better than Lebron James, but at the same time nobody is. Problem is that Rose right now is like Lebron in Cleveland, he has no legit #2 guy

So we're ignoring everything he's done before and only include that missed FT?

They don't make sense because LeBron is clearly better. Great players will always be compared, especially when they go head to head in the ECF's.

Bucher saying Rose is better than LeBron is just silly. Saying it after watching this series, well, he should be taken out back and shot.

I don't think Bucher is necessarily right, probably quite wrong, but having just read what he said in the chat, the argument is at least complex and compelling. He's saying that it's not fair to just compare based on just this series and that in this series LeBron didn't have to do what Rose did in terms of carrying the load and the way the opposition tried to defend him. The Heat put all the eggs in their basket on guarding Rose, while the Bulls just played straight up with Deng and some team help. LeBron could pass to offensive superstars, Rose not. Rose was undeniably more clutch in the regular season, all season, than LeBron. LeBron was the man in the playoffs, when it counts, no doubt, while Rose choked. I'd say it's clear LeBron is better right now, but there isn't an even playing field. I think Bucher is at least right that we should consider that difference when analyzing. In that regard, I still think Rose was unquestionably MVP this year, but Lebron is still "better." I've said all along while admititng Rose blew it badly, that LeBron wouldn't have looked that good if he were in Rose's shoes--and he didn't when playing v. Boston as a Cav, and that Rose would look a whole lot better playing wtih Wade and Bosh.

It's neither. The answer to LeBron vs. Rose is very straightforward.

He's saying that it's not fair to just compare based on just this series

Except Rose has NEVER done anything to be deemed better than LeBron. Nobody's saying LeBron>Rose because of this series; this series merely confirmed what we have always believed.

and that in this series LeBron didn't have to do what Rose did in terms of carrying the load and the way the opposition tried to defend him.

This is such an awful argument. Rose's not the first player to play alongside less than stellar offensive talent. A poor cast is an excuse for LOSING, it's not an excuse for your own poor play. Besides, every superstar at some point in his career has played with far worse help than what Rose had this season. LeBron played with a significantly inferior cast in Cleveland during his 2 MVP seasons and guess what, he didn't come close to sucking like this. In fact, he had 2 of the greatest postseasons in NBA history statistically. Bucher conveniently ignores this though. He just pins all of Rose's struggles on his teammates while NEVER using that same excuse to defend LeBron during his Cleveland years, even though LeBron's production puts Rose's to shame.

I think Bucher is at least right that we should consider that difference when analyzing.

What exactly is there to discuss? LeBron was more productive than Rose all season and humiliated him when they went H2H in the playoffs. In his past MVP seasons, while playing with far worse supporting casts, his production was on completely different level than Rose's this season. So again, what's there to discuss?

Bucher hopelessly brings another shameless argument about LeBron never having gone up against a defense like Miami's, which is a crock of BS. Miami was the 5th ranked defense in the NBA this season. LeBron's played against superior ranked defenses in the playoffs during his 2 MVP seasons. And his production was 38/8/8/49% in one series, 27/9/5/45% in the other. He also played the #1 and #2 ranked defense in this postseason, and averaged splendid numbers.

There's nothing to DISCUSS regarding Rose and LeBron. LeBron's proven himself to be the significantly superior player in every way for years now. Bucher is simply a shameless human being to continue spewing the garbage that he does and anybody aware of his history knows why he does it. He's long been a Kobe fanboy and as we all know, LeBron scares the living daylights out of Kobe fanboys. So they HATE to demean LeBron's accomplishments so Kobe ends up looking better(never works though). Now that Kobe's on the decline, Bucher needed a new horse in his endless quest against LeBron, so he jumped on Rose's back. He has lost this battle too, but is too shameless a human being to admit it.

Why would hating to demean Lebron make Kobe look good?

Where are all of these frightened Kobe fans? Maybe you should tell them Bryant has 5 titles and a couple finals MVP's?

I agree, great players will always be compared......but comparing a 22 years old guy with the best player around this world.....make absolutely no sense!

LeBron is clearly the best player in the world. If you argue that you're a delusional hater.

LeBron is obviously better than Rose. But it's a lot easier when you can face a single team out on the perimeter because the defense can't double you without putting significant pressure on the rest of the defense. Rose doesn't have that luxury.

And the media, and especially ESPN, piss me off so much. What's with building a player up and then tearing him down?

I don't know how often you are on GB or any other NBA forum on the net, but Kobe fans are FRIGHTENED beyond belief of LeBron. 80% of the LeBron haters you'll run into will be Kobe/LA fans. They want no one to be better than Kobe and since LeBron is, they hate. It's not really about rings or MVPs. It's purely a battle of who's better INDIVIDUALLY and since the majority has considered LeBron the game's best for 3 years now, Kobe fans HATE. Bucher's more scummy than your average Kobe fan though and he's realized Kobe's best days are behind him. So he needed a new horse in his HATE against LeBron, and he deemed that new horse to be Rose.
