An open letter to the 2011-12 Chicago Bulls:

With what happened to Derrick in Game 1, it would be easy to hang your heads right now. You could lose sight of the ultimate goal and give up before the rest of the games have even been played. But I know that’s not even a consideration for this group. And that’s exactly why you’ll make me, Derrick, the organization, and the city of Chicago so proud.

To a man, it’s time for each of you to take a look in the mirror. Decide who you really are and what you represent as a basketball player. Reflect on what you have brought to the table for your team all season long and why you’re a valuable member of the Bulls. Because all of you have contributed to this team’s incredible success. Ask yourself what you can do for the team moving forward. Whether it’s through your verbal leadership or diving on the floor after a loose ball, it’s going to be all about grinding it out moving forward. If there is one piece of advice I can offer you, it’s to put every last ounce of effort you have out there to make everyone proud—Derrick, the fans, and first and foremost, yourself.

another "buck up" thread

It's another "buck up" thread for sure. However, Scottie had a lot of really good things to say. I remember that series in 1995 vs New York like it was yesterday. Before the Miami series last year, I had never wanted a Bulls team to win a series more badly in my entire life.

I loved the first 3-peat team, but that 1995 team is when I really became cemented as a Bulls fan. While, I don't think the Bulls have a Pippen caliber player (maybe not even a Kukoc quality player at the moment), there are some parallels to be drawn with that situation. They were one awful foul call away from the ECF. They would have had a great chance against Indiana in the ECF.

This. I don't know whether the Bulls will be able to make it all the way or not. Reallisticaly, I don't reckon they have a great shot at doing so. But I won't give up on the team this soon, nor I think they'll throw in the towel just now. As Bull fans, we all have to get behind the them no matter how tough things get.

It's time to separate the wheat from the chaff, folks.

i realize the mods are being very forgiving on the subject of multiple repeat threads on the same thing, but it's sure getting annoying.

It would be nice if we had one "buck up" thread and another for the "I can't go on" people.

I never got the need to bunch everything together unless they were incredibly similar. It just makes a cluster of nonsense that no one wants to sort through. Topics that aren't liked will fall off the page and be forgotten on their own anyway.

I love it. We're still the best rebounding team in the NBA, the best defensive team in the NBA, and we still have the best bench in the NBA. I'm glad that no one is using the injury as an excuse, and that Jo, Deng, and the rest of the Bulls should be fired up tonight.

Good letter. The big difference though is that that team still had Pippen in his prime who was a star player, this team really doesn't. For us to win it all we need Deng to play like he did in the playoffs vs Miami in 2007, Boozer vs the Rockets in 2007 and the rest of the guys can be the same.

We've won plenty of games without Rose this year, some of them were big games. Would I feel better having Rose? Of course. Do I think we should be the favorite to win the trophy this year? That's a stretch. But this team can and will compete with anybody even if Watson/JLIII/Mike James is running the point instead of Rose. It is a very cohesive team with very good talent (albeit without Rose it may not be uber-superstar talent) and excellent coaching. Even Miami sleeps on this Bulls team at its own peril.

1994 playoffs not 95. but do remember that one and i was 100% all chi. that foul on hubert davis was bs. bulls were better and ewing wit his traveling running move was pure crime. but seeing indiana beat them how they did was good. i was in the eigth grade back then and lived in new jersey so the knicks fans were livid. i didnt know reggie miller game was running to the ball and shooting each time until that series. it was funny and knick fans so mad saying is that all he does.

In 1994, Pippen was so hurt that his number wasn't called with 1.8 seconds left and the score tied in a playoff game vs. the Knicks, he refused to get off the bench. Toni Kukoc buried the winner, cementing Pippen's place on this list.
