I think the Ralph rumor is a solid trade, but very risky if we give up our 1st next year unprotected (if Rose misses more time than expected, it could easily be a lottery pick). I'd probably go ahead and do it since it would save us a ton of money in the future, but I would be very disappointed if we got Lamb, I'd much rather take Waiters. Waiters could be a spark plug off the bench from the start and has tons of upside. I would think it's who the Bulls are going after.

not if cj watson is included. it'd pretty much be a salary wash for the coming year and then harris comes off the books after the season

Warriors- Deng

Other things could be involved but this is what I got so far

Ehh, kind of a poor deal to give up Deng and 2 1st rounders to get #7, Dorrell Wright, and Devin Harris.

the bulls do avoid biedrins horrible contract and they get 2nd rounders in which they can draft euro players

The Warriors cannot make this trade "pre-draft".

The 2013 1st better be protected.

If they do this deal I think they targeted Austin Rivers at #7. Just a feeling I have...

Ehh - not sure how much better than team is than our current team if healthy and tax being paid. As Fish has been saying, it's basically a luxury tax move.

I trust the Bulls drafting ability but the player at #7 should be as good as Deng, in worst case scenario, to give up the #29, and 2013 first too.

Does Wright's contract expire too after the season?

I like it. We get rid of Deng's contract, get Harris to play pg and Wright to play sf. Harris is a more capable pg than Watson for sure. While we lose defense and rebounding in Wright, he adds more shooting when he's on.

Can't wait for Thursday.

Even if CJ is included, they're still in the tax.

15,000,000 (Boozer)
5,000,000 (Hamilton)
15,506,632 (Rose)
11,300,000 (Noah)
2,155,811 (Gibson)
1,066,920 (Butler)
4,106,000 (Wright)
8,500,000 (Harris)
5,000,000 (Asik 1st year re-signed)
2,798,040 (#7 pick signed to 120% of first year salary)

=
70,433,403

Only way you avoid the tax is by not re-signing Asik or hoping a team doesn't offer the mid level.

I like getting Devin Harris and Dorrell Wright, but only we're getting the guy we want at #7

I don't want them trading just for the hell of it. Obviously I don't think they would do that, but I'm expecting big things out of whoever they draft.

Also, doesn't it seem a little weird that Utah gives up Harris but gets 3 picks for taking Biedrins' 1 extra year @ 9mil?

Wright and Harris both only have one year left. Frees up about $12m in space for the next season.

This trade would make us players in FA or absorbing the salary of an all star in the summer of 2013 wouldn't it? James Harden anyone?

We would have to let both Brewer and Korver walk to stay under the LT if we also wanted to re-sign Asik.

Rose/ Harris/ Lucas
Rip/ Lamb (hopefully)/ Butler
Wright/ Butler/ vet min
Boozer/ Taj
Noah/ Asik

With Mirotic & the Bobcats pick still in tow.
Harris & Wright would represent $12.6 million in expiring contracts if we still wanted to make a bid for Dwight down the road.

Now if we decided to pay LT next season for Koever:

Rose/ Harris / Lucas
Rip/ Lamb/ Korver
Wright / Korver / Butler
Boozer / Taj
Noah / Asik

I cant tell if thats significantly better but havinf Korver eases any scoring tensions.
For love, not money.

What are the Jazz going to do with 3 Centers?

they're actually doing us a favor. we don't need biedrins horrible contract and we do need a starting caliber pg for a year. i understand 3 1st rounders are a lot, but that's 29th and 30th, and next year we'll probably be a playoff team with or without rose.

From what they are saying we're getting two 2nd round picks, definitely one. This is my guess but I'm thinking it's 35 and 52 from Golden State. So we swap 29 for 35 and 52 if you want to really break it down.

So that leaves Deng and a 2013 1st protected for #7, Wright and Harris. Wright and Harris fill two holes and the key is the number 7 pick and freeing up money after the 2012-13 season.

Again the Bulls are extremely high on some guys in this draft. My guess is if one of those guys are there at 7, they might take the risk.

The Bulls with Hamilton, Harris and Wright coming off the books would have a payroll at about 52M-54. Not really enough to add a high salary player, but enough to get an average salary guy, and have enough money to re-sign Gibson without hitting the tax.

But you'd still be paying the tax this year..

if we get the #7 pick, we can always move to #2 using the bobcats pick.

They don't care, they would get 2 picks in the first round of this deep draft, when the previously had none plus pick up a 2013 first......Beans can sit on the end of the bench for that.
