Okay, here's my crazy thinking

1. Amnesty Boozer
2. Move Noah to the PF slot
3. Sign Marcin Gortat at C
4. Sign Jason Smith as backup C
5. Sign Mirotic to the MLE
6. Use Gibson as trade bait to try and land a top 3 -5 pick.

This gives us great versatility. Gortat can deal with power Centers like Hibbert. Noah, Jason Smith , and Greg Smith can play both positions. Mirotic and Jason Smith are offensive players. The other three are more defensive. If we think we need more depth then Emeka Okafor could be an additional option.

7. Trade MJD, either with the aid of our second round pick or in a package with Gibson.
8. Sign DJ as backup PG
9. Sign Kirk as #3 SG
10. Sign Rodney Stuckey as #2 SG.
11. Use our #16 draft pick on Elfrid Payton and have him as #3 PG

What this does is give us the following lineups
PG: Rose, Augustin, Payton
SG: Butler, Stuckey, Hinrich
You guys want ballhandlers? We've got five of them here. And all of them can score.

12. Do everything we can to trade Gibson, MJD, and a pick to get Jabari Parker in the draft.
13. Sign one of Paul Pierce, Caron Butler, Xavier Henry, Thabo Sefolosha for the remaining SF slot
14. If we are able to keep the #19 pick, then choose one of the following based on need (Payne, Grant, Early, Robinson)

This means the rotation is
SF: Parker, One of #13 or #14, Tony Snell

It's doable without spending too much money. And we have crazy depth.

Boozer, Gibson, and MJD free us from about $28 million. That leaves us at around $36.5 Million in salary leaving around $28-30 million for players.
Gortat - $6 mil
Parker - $4 mil
DJ - $2.5 mil
Jason Smith - $2.5 mil
Stuckey -$2 mil
Hinrich - $1 mil
Paton - $1 mil
Okafor - $1 mil (if we need him)
SF signee - $2-3 mil

Just thinking out loud.

Noah C

Gasol PF (Boozer/ Butler & Swap Bulls/Charolotte pick for Lakers 2014 Pick)

Mirotic SF

Afflalo SG (Trade Gibson & Chicago 2014 1st round draft pick)

Rose PG

Bulls draft Marcus Smart PG with Lakers draft Pick

Hinrich SG
Augustin PG
Dunleavy SF
Amundson PF
Smith C
Snell G

This lineup for the Bulls recognizes that the Lakers only have 3 players under contract and that Gasol will be easier to obtain than Anthony from the Knicks.

Affalo gives scoring and the overall Bulls lineup would have height with the exception of Rose.

The lineup has flexibility with regards to a strong but not overly expensive bench.

This would indicate that the Lakers do not win the Lottery.

I doubt the Magic make any moves this season unless they can unload Nelson. No way do I think we can get AA and fillers for boozer even if we through in our two firsts this year. They are projected to have the 3 and 12 picks. That can be a combo of Parker and Payne(?) or Embiid and Harris. They would have and amazing nucleus.

My trade was Gibson and the bulls draft pick for AA not Boozer. I don't know if they would go for it but Boozer is compensation for Gasol.

Just going to post a thought but I think it's too late to trade for Afflalo, he's got an opt out in a year and he would be dumb to not opt out and get a better contract with the numbers he's been putting up. In other words, we'd have to possibly overpay for another player going into his 30s and I just don't think giving up picks or Taj for it is a such a good idea and I've been on the Afflalo bandwagon since his early Denver days.

The best thing we can do is look for an under the radar wing who's young and talented but maybe not in the right situation or hasn't had enough time to develop. This was Afflalo 3-4 years ago, so the key is to find the NEXT Afflalo.

Having said that, some names that come to mind are Evan Fournier, Alec Burks, and Jeremy Lamb. I'd try real hard this offseason to try and grab one of these players by unloading a 2014 pick, Sac pick and/or Snell. In the end, I just don't think having 3 rookies on the team (Mirotic and the two 1st round picks) along with Snell is going to help very much in the short term.

Amazed by the lottery fascination with Napier.

I think the Bulls pull a trade. If no Melo then Klay Thompson, or at a smaller level Harrison Barnes. I don't think the Bulls are interested in rookies unless its McDermott.

You Know Rudy Gay may be a great plan B if We Can't get Melo. I Wouldn't mind Trading Boozer and The Kings Pick and Our 15 1st for Him. 1 Year to see what you can get out of him If He works out great Resign if not let him walk. Hopefully we can also bring Mirotic over along with Resigning Kirk and DJ and Brewer

Rose - DJ - Kirk
Butler - Snell
Gay - Dunleavy - Brewer
Gibson - Mirotic
Noah - Smith - Draftee

Kings aren't going to take on another PF. On top of that we don't need Rudy that bad at 19mil.

I think two guys we can get by trading boozer and the CHA pick are Thaddeus Young and Jeff Green. If we miss out on Melo they would be two very good plan B guys.

If we do get them via trade that would give us enough to resign all our guys including DJ to more than just a Vet min plus bring over Mirotic.

Rose/DJ/Kirk
Butler/Kirk/Snell
Green or Young/Dunleavy/Snell
Taj/Mirotic/Smith
Noah/Payne/Smith

I think the FO's plan B is for 2015. It's a loaded free agent class with a bunch of players who will most likely opt out of their contract.

Love: Player option
Milsap
Green: Player option
Rondo
Brook Lopez: Player option
Jefferson: Player option
Hibbert: Player option
West: Player option
Afflalo: Player option
Thaddeus Young: Early Termination Option
Gragic: Player option
Gerald Green
Aldridge
Wes Mathews
Marc Gasol

If we miss out on Love or Alridge we should go after Jefferson hard. We had the opportunity to trade Deng for him while he was still with the Jazz. Some people thought he done or just never that good which is obviously completely off base. He's proved to be a top big man in the NBA and to have one of the best post games, if not the best.

#16, #19, 2015 expirings for Melo. Mirotic comes over. Haven't seen another realistic scenario to make the Bulls immediate legit Champeen contenders. Otherwise they'll have to take the same route of grooming prospects and retaining flexibility.

Whatever the Bulls do this offseason I just hope they don't trade away players (and amnesty Boozer) to try for Melo only to end up with nothing.
