The other didn't reach 100 yet though.

No matter.

I want McDermott/Anderson/Stauskas with pick 16, and LaVine, Hood, Young, with 19. My first preference would be to trade up, however, for Vonleh, if we're not trading for Melo.

I do not know much about Vonleh, but whom do you project him to be? A future starter? Will he drop far enough for us to potentially get?

McDermott's questionable athletic ability scares me, but the guy can shoot, has a quick release, is crafty, and has size. I would be very pleased getting him. I'd also be thrilled with Stauskas, Hood, or Young. Lavine's lack of size wants me to avoid him for now.

I think Vonleh will be Bosh, the one you see now who has legit three point range, but can also blow by people. His ceiling is LaMarcus Alridge right now who is winning games while putting up crazy numbers.

James Young is who I really want. He is going to be a solid swing man and immediately fills a need. If he is off the board Hood would be my second choice for a 2/3

Payne should be our pick at 19. Payne has the frame and length of Taj, but with a much more polished offensive game. He is also a great 3 pt shooter (42%). Perfect Stretch 4.

I don't think we will get Melo, and Lance just isn't a Bulls type of player. So I say keep both picks, sign two solid Free agents (Meeks and Hawes), and fill the roster with shooters.

Rose, DJ, Kirk
Meeks, Young, BG7
Butler, MDJ, Snell
Taj, Mirotic, Payne
Noah, Hawes, Smith

That is a deep team with a lot of shooting. If Rose can play at a high level this team would compliment his skills perfectly.

Handful of players I'd be fine with the team taking.

Stauskas, Harris, Young, Warren, Payne, Hood, LaVine.

To me Vonleh is like a bigger Tristan Thompson.

whoever they draft this year just make sure they are ready to contribute right away. we need all the offensive help we can get. time to change up the only winners approach and go for who they think can put the ball in the basket. im not in a mood to see rose go 1 on 5 again. the only player I really see improving offensively is snell. id like to say jimmy but outside of adding a better shot I don't see much more improvements out of him

That list is irrelevant for determining whether a prospect will end up being a good NBA player.

I would not be disappointed with LaVine at all, though I do value a NBA-ready prospect right now.

He's got major upside, and getting him while he's young could help Thibs mold his potential into a disciplined but dynamic player.

The beauty of having 2 picks, assuming the Bulls use both, is that they can draft one project and one NBA-ready guy. As to Lavine specifically, I just don't see him being on the board for Chicago.

Graden, I respectfully, but strongly disagree with you. Very strongly. Just by looking at it.

Embiid will not drop past the Bucks if they get the third pick. They have Ersan on a reasonably big contract for the 4 spot and Giannis longterm as the 3/4 hybrid. They haven't had a C in forever. At worst, he'll be Bogut, but I'm leaning more towards Dalembert with great scoring ability in year 3.

Young, Hood, McDermott, Anderson are dropping way too low. Stauskas, LaVine way too high. Semaj and Kendall also are not 1st round picks.

I do agree where you have Vonleh projected. I actually think he will be taken ahead of Randle.

Posted to keep Graden's mock around for discussion.

Also, nitetrain, I agree with you about Embiid. If his back is okay, I can't see him dropping out of the top 3. But as to Milwaukee specifically, they do have a center. Its Larry Sanders, and they just signed him to a 4 year, $44 million deal that doesn't even kick in until next season. Not that I think that would absolutely prohibit the Bucks from taking Embiid, but its a consideration. They might view Randle as a better fit.

I really want LaVine at 16 because let's be honest, neither of these picks will log significant time in year one with this team anyway. A full year with Thibs and the Bulls is an ideal situation for a rookie who is extremely raw but carries tremendous upside. From pure athleticism the Westbrook comparison makes sense.

Less than 1% of guys carry this kind of explosion and speed, LaVine is in that 1%. That said, I agree he probably will not be available by the time the Bulls are on the clock.

I think if the other guys like Young and Hood impress at workouts Lavine may fall to us. I don't think most GMs thought he would leave and he wasn't able to show that he was ready while at UCLA. There are a handful of guys better than him who are more nba ready compared to him and I think that will push him down.

Players I like:

Obvious ones - Parker, Embid, Wiggins
Others -

Aaron Gordon (watched him play nearly every game, high basketball IQ, high defensive intensity - he is the forward version of Jo Noah).
Staukas - in the NBA is more wide open then ever. Shooters get free - this kid can really shoot.
Vonleh - he won't fail. Reminds me of a Buck Williams (old school alert) Horace Grant type. He is going to be your starting PF for a long time. Good but not spectacular.
Kyle Anderson - guys with this high of basketball IQ and this much skill don't fail. Will absolutely help the right team.
Payne - like his shooting and his defensive potential. Don't know if he'll ever be a full time starter for a good team but definitely can be a key contributor off the bench, and maybe right away.

Guys I don't like

Randle - I just don't think he''s a top 5 talent. I think he'll be an okay NBA player, but not worth his draft slot.
Lavine - He's a human highlight reel that had absolutely no effect on his team for the last 20 games of the season. The kind of guy who will light up summer league and than get benched during the season. He is going to make the person who signs him to his 2nd NBA contract very happy.
Nick Johnson - Saw him play every game, just like Gordon. He's a nice all around guard who does NOTHING at an NBA level (besides be a professional). Needs to refine his PG game, 3pt shooting, and try to become Derek Fisher.
McDermott - I think he will have a long NBA career. I don't think he'll ever average more than 12ppg though.

Deng traded away, and Boozer likely getting axed as well (maybe even Dunleavy too), it only makes sense for Chicago to get Rodney Hood. Our Duke level will be too low!
