Re: Random, maybe interesting Bulls stats thread
Too add to the OPs stat, Jimmy Butler's "short" 3PT% (corners), and Butler's "long" 3PT% last 2 seasons.
Regular Season + Playoffs 2013/2014
33/75 = 44% (Short 3)
41/181 = 22.7% (Long 3)
Regular Season + Playoffs 2012/2013
30/75 = 40% (Short 3)
25/65 = 38.5% (Long 3)

41/181 = 22.7% (Long 3)

It's interesting and yet not so surprising. The guy is an absolute beast on the defensive end, and as such he expends a whole lot of energy on that end.
He is definitely an iron man of sorts, but to be a 2-way player you sometimes have to pick your moments on the defensive end, but for Jimmy he just goes at it so damn hard on that end it's no surprise that he doesn't have that extra omph on the offensive end that he needs.
Why so serious?

Pau Gasol last season (60 games) has had the same amount of blocks as Boozer did in his Chicago career (280 games).

In the last two seasons, the Bulls were 20-3 when they got 10+ points on >50% shooting from Kirk.

Re: Random, maybe interesting Bulls stats thread
Since the theme of this offseason (besides Pau) is adding shooters, and we have added McDermott, Mirotic, with an improved snell, hopefully returned Jimmy, maybe a better shooter in Derrick, an ok shooter in Kirk, and MDJ
I decided to look at how the bulls perform relating to 3 pointers made.
In the past 4 seasons, the bulls led by Thibs have made 6.2, 6.3, 5.4, 6.2 3pointers per game on average.
In those past 4 seasons, the NBA Champs (Mavs, Heat, Heat, Spurs) made 7.9,5.6, 8.7, 8.5 3ps/g on average.
I looked at the win-loss for if the bulls made more than 10 a game (2 from Mcd, Niko, McD; 1 from derrick, Jimmy, Snell, Kirk on average)
I looked if the bulls made more than 7 a game (1 from each)
Then I looked at if the bulls made 5 (and then 7) a game and depending on if the Opponent scored over/under 100
Then as a bonus I included our record if the bulls held their opponents over/under 100 and if the bulls scored over/under 100.
Here are the results:

The stat I like the most: 71 wins! if the bulls score 7 3p a game and hold their opponents under 100 a game. Wow. and that is possible. it's still under the amount that the champs from the previous years made (besides that 1st chip from miami) and yet it's less than 1 more make than the bulls average. Keep in mind, it includes the two years that Rose went down
This year is going to be eyeopening guys. With our added shooters, the bulls will be wrecking a lot of teams that come our way. Hopefully, everyone stays healthy cause this is definitely our year. We will reach 60+ wins.
PS: Wow. When the bulls offense is on... we are a powerhouse 91.3% winning percentage. Ouch.

Re: Random, maybe interesting Bulls stats thread
Where do you guys find these stats? I've been wanting to research this stuff but where's a good place with these kind of detailed stats?
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ
edit 7/30/21: okay maybe not, but it was a fun ride nonetheless

BBR is really good if you want to search for something, but for a more in-depth look at a player's stats check out SynergySports
Also the NBA itself has a great stats system up now: http://stats.nba.com/

Re: Random, maybe interesting Bulls stats thread
Thats one thing I dont understand why people bash Butler and want him to be traded or moved to the bench. This guy played 40mpg most of the season while defending the opponents best wing while giving 110%. So how in the world do you expect him to be good offensively when he exhausted? The guy is a game changer on defense and I'll put money that he'll get re-signed(Ima lol @ this board) and come playoff time we'll have a great advantage knowing Butler can handle LBJ and we wont see LBJ dropping 25+.
But back to the those stats its simple, dont run him into the ground and he'll help us on offense.

There are no pick your moments on D especially a Thibs team. Even Jordan said he would get his rest on offense because he could control it. On D you are reacting to the other guys which is requires 100% attention.
Unless you are guarding Bogans.

This is interesting. I'm wondering though what is the significance of looking at 3pt shots made rather than pts scored.
For example should the increase in projected wins from 6 3pts per game to 7 3pts per game be different than with an increase in total scoring from 97ppg scored to 100ppg?
edit: I think scoring should be correlated with wins and 3pts with scoring.

Can you tell me what record Kirk "lead" the Bulls to when Teague was his backup?

This post along with the OP's would certainly point to fatigue being an issue. More minutes. Longer shots.

If Jimmy can settle in at 32-35mpg with Rose back I think you will see his 3 ball even out at about 37-38% on solid volume of 3 per game. Gasol and Mc3 will help him get better looks too.

Those are my favorite jerseys! Want to get a Rose jersey in that style... once he gets a full season under his belt.
