March Madness Thread

I know its gotta hurt for ND fans to be so close to ending the undefeated streak of both the 2014 Florida State Seminoles and the Kentucky Wildcats. Both games ended the same way.

remarkably, this would've been a distant 2nd when it comes to streak-busting for ND hoops

I don't know why people don't want to see greatness happen in front of their eyes. I wanted to see New England go undefeated. I want to see Kentucky assblast their next two opponents.

Upsets? Pshhh. Only if it's against Duke.

if people root for greatness it's not as great when it arrives. plus, people don't want a bunch of freshman put up on the same pedestal as the great teams of yesteryear

has mike brey turned ND hoops into a better program than ND football? it's pretty close at this point

Yeah those '96 Bulls were so underwhelming.

Yep. ND Football played good up until the FSU game. Afterwards it just felt like they were imploding near the end.

I dare you to find one neutral basketball fan that saw that team and wishes they had just been some nondescript 60-22 or something team instead.

4,9,11,15,17,17,19,21,22,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X,X

you brought up the topic in the first place because it happens

people like the POSSIBILITY of something historic, for sure. for the drama. they don't necessarily want it to come to fruition

People complain as it's happening, but then years later they realize they saw something special and they're glad they saw it. Always.

the longer you go between undefeated college hoops seasons, for example, the more special it is when it happens. it's kinda like the lottery getting bigger and bigger

also, the more special the team, the more special it is. many people simply don't feel like this kentucky team belongs on the all-time great list

It's been almost 40 years, and back then it was a fairly regular occurrence.

I don't think the Kentucky offense is particularly special, but I have never seen a college team this good defensively. 8 or 9 guys are probably going to play in the NBA, one of whom isn't even playing because of injury. In terms of depth and defense this is an all-time great team, no matter what happens in their next one or two games.

I just want to see Okafor vs Towns/Stein. It'll be the best big-man match-up in a big game since Oden vs Noah/Horford IIRC

You're gonna have to wait until they meet in the NBA, because Wisconsin is winning. :P

Tough to comment here through my devastation. The Irish outplayed Kentucky a high percentage of the game and let it slip away at the end...or Kentucky took it away, which is what great teams do.

As far as not appreciating greatness and why people hate Kentucky...look no further than their head coach. I wish I could say it all started with DRose's test scores, but it goes back more than that. Many people look at him as a lying cheating racist scumbag. Personally I think it is all a bit overblown, but that is his rep.

For me though, being an ND fan, I just hate whoever the Irish are playing.

Where does the racism come from? I'm asking not disagreeing. I've just never heard that term associated with him.
