I love all of these short, explosive scorers. I do. And we've had a good run. But we need a different model this year.

Completely with you. Would love to have an explosive spark plug as our third string PG, but for the second string I'd much rather see a pass first distributor or a disruptive defender.

Almost certain he's playing overseas next year.

So... Andre Miller? Or Sergio Rodriguez...

I'm with Doug: I'll take a microwave-style scorer over a really bad defense/distributor type. Deciding who's 2nd and who's 3rd string should depend upon who's the better player, not who plays which style of ball.

Re: Defense vs Offense backup PG.

In the past we were always defense heavy so needed offense more, but now you could argue either way. As we were 11th on both sides last season.

Projecting ahead, the team would figure to be using more offense in the rotation with what we have, so defensive backup would make more sense (and to replace Kirk).

BUT.... Derrick Rose. He gets injured all the time and even the last 2 years he played (2012, 2015) he missed major portions of the season. And if Rose goes down, then you need at least some semblance of volume offense.

Or we could trade a big for a better backup PG than a one skill minimum, someone that hopefully can do both a little, and still let the kids have their big opportunity at the wing.

It just sucks that the mmle is essentially considered the vet min right now with the type of deals that are being handed out.

It's just too bad the Bulls don't have the full mle available to them.

Unfortunately Andrew Miller is probably the type of PG the Bulls can afford.

I'm not sure who the answer is, but I know it's not a 33 year old Will Bynum.

I love scorers, but we haven't had someone who can get others going offensively for a while. It's too bad we didn't keep Augustine because he could be both a scorer or passer depending on need.

And in all fairness, all of these scoring guards are bad at defense as well. At this point I just want someone who it's stylistically very different than Rose so that we can get different looks on offense.

With what money? The $3M we have to spend doesn't get you a guy who can distribute and defend.

No, I don't think it's Will Bynum either. He only had one really good season, and he's been away for a year, and he's older. I just mean that I'll take a pretty good microwave over a worse defense/pass-first guy.
