Training camp is a fine reason to root for summer to get the hell out here and the cold, dark weather to begin. Admittedly, the only such reason, but at least the one reason is a good reason.

Well, autumn is a pretty great time to be in the Chicago area. My favorite time, actually.

So Rose is growing the afro? I liked the short hair better. He really looks weirdo in that long hair.

Anyway, can't wait for the training camp/preseason/Regular season etc. I will have ZERO expectations this year. I will just watch for fun and hope to see D-Rose play the ENTIRE season - including the entire playoffs.

Can't wait to see how Hoiberg does as a coach and how team responds. It will be really weird seeing No Thibs there.

How's that Jimmy Butler contract looking now? 16 mil/yr for Barnes. Wow.....

KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Better yet, imagine if we had pulled off that extension when it before he bet on himself. That would've set us up with the new cap very nicely.

And to think of all the moaning we did on the April 1st, 2014 post that Jimmy Butler wanted $10 million per year for 4 years. We carried on as if that contract would have been ruinous.

Thank goodness the realgm board is not the Real Bulls GM. We simultaneously overrate our players shamelessly, so that no deal could ever be done, and then expect to pay them bupkis.

WAIT...WHAT? He declined?

http://www.vavel.com/en-us/nba/543558-golden-state-warriors-offered-harrison-barnes-four-year-64-million-contract-extension.html

21-09-2015
The Golden State Warriors offered Harrison Barnes a four-year, $64 million contract extension in which he declined. However, both sides are still expected to reach an agreement before the October 31st deadline.

----

Seriously though, the NBA is going to have a serious problem on their hands within 2 years. Im taking nothing away from guys like Barnes and TT, but the players are raising the floor so freaking high, that all costs for players will be unsustainable in my opinion.

I sort of cringe to think of what Niko's next contract will look like.

Its most likely going to make Jimmy contract look like peanuts.

I think it's silly for them not to wait till next year when the cap explodes and everyone has money. I couldn't understand why more players didn't take a 1 & 1 like Bron to cash in this summer.

Why do you think teams are even able to offer so much to a player of Barnes' caliber?

Harrison Barnes owes these guys a lot of thanks. Plus us, the fans, of course.

According to Forbes, The average NBA team had an operating profit of $23.1 million. So one can guess each team can afford ~15 mil more. You have to try to improve the team so attendance stays up.

The salaries are the same percentage of revenue as before. This is sort of like if I had a lease where I agree to pay 20% of my salary to my landlord as rent; then, my salary doubles, so my rent doubles, and your response is, "You've got a serious rent problem on your hands." This is a great "problem" for the NBA owners, whose profits are about to explode just as much as players' salaries.
