In fact, part of Payne's poor play may even be blamed on injury, and we may get lucky to have a useful player next year if healed. But if Doug is "garbage" then Payne is the worst player in the league. For the record, I think Doug is below average and Payne is one of the worst players in the NBA.

Payne was better as a rookie 21-year-old point guard than Doug has ever been in his entire pro career.

The only real explanation for the absolute tanking he's taken this season is the injury. I'm not sure what else it can be.

That said, even if he pans out he's not some high ceiling guy, which is the real problem with the young "talent" on this roster.

Maybe they wouldn't be as far along as they are now, but I do think we'd develop them. The last two years that Noah was on the team he was often hurt, which means Nurkic would get minutes. Gary Harris might not have played all that much, but I bet he'd get some time.

We'll never know. It was a bad trade and all the Bulls can do is move forward.

I hated the trade at the time, and actually wanted the Bulls to draft Gary Harris (because I liked his defense and three point shooting, reminds me of an Avery Bradley).

Sadly, would've been the perfect PG/SG fit next to Jimmy.

I'm not sure the Bulls would've taken Nurkic with that second 1st rounder, nor do I think he would've developed as much as he has on Portland. Glad he's there though, he's been tearing it up.

I was going under the scenario that the Bulls drafted Nurkic/Harris and didn't trade them. It's possible that they'd draft neither one, but that's not something we'll ever know.

Nurkic showed potential before he got to Portland, but dealt with injuries and then played out of position. On the Bulls that wouldn't be an issue (the position....injuries are injuries...difficult to predict).

I wanted the Bulls to trade for Nurkic at the trade deadline, but all this has passed. Hopefully Payne develops and the Bulls do the best they can with their 2017 pick.

Maybe it's the left handed shooting, but does he remind anyone else of Nick Van Exel? I'm not saying he's as good as Van Exel, but that there are similarities.

I can see Devin Harris, but I'm not sure about George Hill. If he ends up as good as any of these three players I'll be happy.

The d-league site last night must have had an error. Said he had 13 points in a win.

Next game I want him to be better.

His foot had to have been bothering him. His jump shot had a lot more arc in the video than it did during his last few games with the Bulls. It was basically Derrick Rose flat.

Playing with lesser talent seemed to have gotten him back to his laid-back playing style. Still, whether it's the NBA or NBA-DL, he has a natural knack of creating a lot of space in the pick and roll. Rarely does he takes a jump shot with a hand in his face. He's going to have to knock down those midrange jumps shots with consistency in order to augment both his drives and his creating of passing lanes for the screen man.

Did KC already reveal whether the Windy City got a second round pick in exchange?

I don't get it. Just because RoLo is out? Why recall him? We certainly aren't in dire need of a PG.

Vs. Iowa Energy: 26 minutes, 14 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, 1 turnover, +7 (5-16 FG, 1-7 3FG, 3-4 FT). For the most part was going up against Wade Baldwin IV.

Payne has a good feel for everything except his jump shot. He has a craftiness around the rim and can get any shot he wants, but he simply can't drain those jump shots with any consistency. He may need a shot doctor to fix some of his mechanical flaws.

He actually plays with quite a bit of intensity, especially with rebounds, despite his laid-back demeanor on offense.

All true, but you see what number he's wearing?

Payne was THE reason for the deadline trade. Based on what I've seen of Payne, I'm completely on board with the D League assignments. This doesn't mean that Payne's obvious unreadiness (is that a word) doesn't worry me.

How do you guys feel about stuff like this? I personally hate it and is a big reason I have no respect for Payne as a professional.

Before the game it is just "Young guys, being young guys."

During the game? That is him being a clown and he needs to act like he is at work. Which he is. He needs to sit his ass down and pay attention to the game, there is obviously a lot for him to learn.

To me that shows that the players have little respect for Fred.

Imagine trying that **** with Pop in charge.
