Bulls history thread

To help shine a bright light on what is this season so far. Let's talk about some of our favorite bulls memories.

Remember this gem with the great opening montage?

We have a long failed history with point guards.
- Jay Williams
- Kirk Hinrich (was actually steady, but low IQ. Many posters here thought he was going to be an All Star.)
- Derrick Rose
- Rajon Rondo (was about to lead us into the 2nd round of the playoffs then got injured)
- Lonzo Ball

We gotta stay away from chasing point guards for good. If we ever luck into Top 2, just pass on Scoot Henderson. Take Wemba or Amen. Let Scoot prosper somewhere else.
We're a tall Shooting Guard, Small Forward, Power Forward franchise. This is our bread and butter. And always will be.

Failed point guards is a favorite memory? haha.

Serious though, I hear you. The Bulls haven't had a good history with point guards, but I think if Scoot is there you take him. He's too good to pass up (unless, of course, the Bulls have the #1 pick).

Our LONG failed history with point guards has to be noted. It should be in this thread.

I already outlined my case in passing Scoot for Wemba or Amen. It's controversial AF (especially passing Scoot for Amen), but not to me. I think Amen Thompson fits Chicago Bulls and the city of Chicago extremely well.

Positives:
- 6-7 with long arms
- Explosive athletic with springs (he can compete in NBA dunk contest if he wants)
- Great handles (takes anybody off the dribble)
- Great passing vision/facilitator
- Good defense
- Great finisher
- Crafty shifty slasher (drives to the bucket really good; slithers his way)
- Can run/facilitate half court offense and fast breaks
- lob threat (passing or catching it)
- Consistent
- Generates a lot of steals
- plays mean

Negatives:
- need improvements on jump shot
- cut down on turnovers

I understand that Scoot is NBA ready right now and will make his mark immediately. However, if he played for us, he'll just get a detrimental injury to derail everything based on our (Again, LONG established history) pattern of behavior with point guards.

Van Lier was pretty healthy and productive for the bulls. Maybe they are just cursed with a you only get one good and healthy point guard in your franchise's history.

Hinrich put up 15 and 6 his first 4 seasons in the league and then just lost it and never recovered after that.
Remember the "who or what" moment when the bulls drafted him back in 2003? Got no reaction at all.

Somebody commented that the montage was unintentionally hilarious.

Highlights from the MJ & Rose/Jo era are easy enough. Thought I'd post a great moment from the current team.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/how-zach-lavine-and-coby-white-made-3-point-history-in-bulls-win-over-pelicans/

Shooting 25 of 47 from beyond the arc, the Bulls set a franchise record for 3-pointers. In the process, Zach LaVine and Coby White combined to etch their names in the record books by becoming the first pair of teammates to each hit at least eight 3s in a game. LaVine finished with nine triples and a season-high 46 points, while White made eight shots from downtown en route to 30 points of his own.

Most ideal starting 5 in Bulls history:
Mine would be:
C: Noah or Boerwinkle due to their passing for the triangle. Leaning towards Noah.
PF: Horace Grant. Athletic 4 who can knock down the mid range jumper and help on the boards and defensively.
SF: Pippen. Obvious
SG: Jordan. Obvious
PG: Hinrich. Pretty good across the board when he was at his best.
4 guys who can all give you at least 5apg and very good defensively.

Ahh 2012 season. Started out with such promise. Ended with such tragedy.

I don't care what anyone says.

The Andres Nocioni dunk on the Wizards player is the best Bulls dunk ever.

Just so unxpected.
