Ugly loss.

Tonight was a good win with Ben Brown looking the goods. Morel with a granny. Early signs pointing to big improvement at the plate for him with better discipline and hard contact.

Busch homered again tonight- that's 5 games in a row.

On a sad note, RIP Kenny Holtzmann. I remember when he threw his first no-hitter- it was the first one I remember seeing. It's too bad he got traded, but good for him, winning 3 rings with the great A's teams of that era.

He looks incredible, meanwhile the guy the Cubs gave up has an 8 ERA in A+ ball (I think he'll be turn out fine though). Busch was rumored as a White Sox target but they didn't pull the trigger. They traded a different pitcher ranked similarly as Jackson Ferris for a different position player though, Dominic Fletcher, an outfielder that can't hit and whose crowning moment as a Sox has been "oops"ing a simple lineout into a two-run homerun.

Our #4 overall pick plays first base though, he's the future of the franchise so you can't acquire guys who play his position. Too bad he's third to last in OPS for qualified first baseman (last is 40-year-old Carlos Santana and second to last is rookie Nolan Schanuel, who skipped the minors). There are 100 minor league contract players who hit better than he does, but I digress...

The only thing about Busch is that I've never seen a first baseman drop so many balls thrown at him. I don't watch the Cubs that often but I've seen him drop easy putouts three different times. I was watching a game the other night and Dansby fielded a routine groundball and threw a slightly off target throw that Busch should've gotten but couldn't squeeze. they charged Swanson with a throwing error lol that has to be upsetting.

Cubs winners tonight. They have a good rotation with Steele, Shoga, Wicks and Assad. Wicks was strong again tonight. I worry about the pen and the hitting though. Their team BA has really sunk these past couple weeks.

Wait till Steele is back and Ben Brown and Assad go back to the pen. Our pitching will be STRONG.

Cade Horton looks lights out too. I think he will be up in 2nd half. We have the starting pitching to win in the playoffs.

Now just to get Hendricks back on track.

Legitimately think a team of our best minor league prospects would take 3 of 4 from the white sox right now. They're so incredibly bad it's actually fun to follow (from a cubs fan perspective at least). But my white sox fan friends and family are at the mocking stage too with the southside slumsdorf franchise.

Belli out with a fractured rib. Wonder how long that will take? PCA to be called up.

Hey! Hey! PCA with a 2 run homer to put the Cubs ahead 3-1 in the 6th. I think this is his first game this year. Started out with a pair of K's, but then a bomb. Assad with 5.2 innings of 1 run ball. He's solid.

Cubs off to a great start and even with injuries the "next guy up" has been able to contribute, which goes to show how deep their farm system really is. Outside of the Reinsdorf-owned teams, Chicago sports is heading in a pretty good direction

They've been a fun team to watch too. Baseball in general has been more fun to watch thanks to the pitch timer and fewer arbitrary breaks in between pitches.

Since it seems pointless to bump two baseball threads, I’ll piggyback on this thread to note that the White Sox just completed a sweep of the Devil Rays and no longer have the worst record in baseball! Well unless the Marlins miraculously come back in the next 15 minutes.
The Caleb Williams/Pete Crow-Armstrong/Tommy Pham era has officially begun, Chicago!
