Yep. In the 10 games prior to this Coby has scored 165 points on 154 fga. With 20 points on 20 shots so far tonight, he his continuing his struggle to keep his head above 1 point per FGA.

Hopefully he has a hot hand in the play-in game.

At least Ayo still looks playable.

Coby doing Coby things in a big spot.

This feels like his ceiling. Kid pulled moves he has t shown yet. Attacked the hoop.

He has been streaky but his highs have been pretty elite. Wonder what we will see moving fwd. Still think he can be a solid 2nd option.

I think he hasn't reached his ceiling yet. That would be when he does this more often, more consistently. He's improved dramatically, and I'm hoping this game earns him the MIP award this year. He deserves it. But I think he has more room to grow. He's only 24!

It was also great to see that when the opposition bum rushes DeMar, Coby is free to attack.

How soon will Coby reach another level?

Post#685 » by nekorajo » Fri Apr 19, 2024 1:10 am

We mostly struggled last season then Zach went off on the Raptors in the 1st play-in game. Similarly, we struggled this season, but this time Coby played great against ATL. Zach followed up his performance with a disappointing showing against Miami after expectations were raised.

This could be a defining moment for Coby. Will he be good or will he be great? If he plays consecutive great games under this kind of pressure, I say that's a new level. If he disappoints, what would it take to raise his profile next season?

Oh wow I just made another Coby topic, because I thought this one was dead. My bad mods.

Isn't he 10ppg better this season? That's another level.

He was mic'd up last night and he just oozes leadership.

With his work ethic I really do believe he can be an all-star.

F***ing love him.

He’s the most lovable Bull since young Derrick Rose. Hard worker, humble, and fun to watch play. He needs to develop consistency, but the traits are there. I want to see him take a strong step this postseason.

I still think he will be a borderline line all-star. He will make some if putting winning teams on the court. Possibly a good 2nd option and likely a great 3rd option. We still need a 1st option. We need to get one and not make the same mistake we made with LaVine of expecting too much.

I think Lonzo Ball had those same qualities. He was gonna be an elite 2 way player.

We're going to learn what Coby is made of tonight. It's much harder to be great in consecutive games of this magnitude.

Yeah, I could easily see a 17/4 game on 33% shooting against MIA' defense.

I've watched so much basketball and yet still find myself surprised at how different players respond to different environments. It does seem at least in part that his poor play down the stretch was fatigue and general just playing out the string until the play in. Then, intensity ramped up (and playing an awful ATL defense helped) he goes off and is energized and doing crazy hesi crossovers into scoop layups.

I hope he goes off again, but as you said, it's easy to go off in spurts, at least for talented offensive players, it's much harder to do it over and over again. That's his next step.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

Coby just seems much more easily stopped since he lost his 3pt mojo, not sure why the precipitous drop off happened, but he was on a real burner. I still think he is dealing with some sort of lingering wrist thing, but that's pure speculation.

He is taking 7.3 more shots per game. He averaged over 15 points per game his 2nd season. His career average is 17.6 points per 36. This season 18.9.

But if Coby gets hot for a play off run, he can absolutely make this post season interesting. When he is hot, he is unstoppable, and the rest of his game seems to pick up a well.

Looks like Coby is a finalist for MIP. Against Maxey and Sengun. I think Maxey takes it, but kudos to Coby for being a finalist.

I might be in the minority, but I would seriously consider trading Coby White this off-season. Sell high.
