Makes me wonder why they look to lock in decade long deals? Especially in this market.

KD gives Minny their first 3-0 lead in history.
Trade demand time?

What a game in Indiana!
Hali cooked Beverly on that last possession.

I thought MIL played well considering they're missing their best player. Sounds like Giannis won't appear in the first round at all, Milwaukee is probably out in the 1st round if he can't even make 1 game.

Who are you talking about? Amazon or the NBA? In the case of the NBA, they like long deals because it allows them to weather lean economic times.

Lean times? The NBA hasn't really had that in a rather long time and TV rights deals have exploded exponentially.

2002 - 6 year deal with ESPN and ABC for 2.4B
2008 - 8 year deal for $7.4B
2016 - 9 year extension for $24B
2025 - 10 year deal...

I may be off, but my thoughts are that the streaming TV services landscape is going to have drastically change by then, a shrinkage/consolidation/mergers of sorts. Too many players and not chairs for when the music stops. So many people I know have started slimming down the amount of services etc, e.g. having one main package (Disney/Netflix) and rotating another as they get bored.

I just think that those companies left standing would become somewhat desperate to add to their offerings that they may get more in 5 years.

Out with the old, in with the new. Down 0-3 -

LeBron
AD
Durant
Beal

Down 1-2

Kawhi
Harden
Westbrook
PG

That's pretty much the Who's Who list of NBA stars from 2017, unable to get past the first round of the playoffs, even though they are now playing with each other.

Players over 30 are a menace. For every one that you sign, three disappoint. And yet it seems that the Bulls will be going to battle next year with $60+ million committed to DDR and Vuc. Good luck with that.

Do you forget how the league not too long ago used to have to take out loans for their franchises to remain solvent years ago? There was a reason we had a lockout in 2011 to right-size the financials. They had a lot of owners who couldn't even really afford their teams (George Shinn, Bob Johnson, Chris Cohan). Even with the explosion of the TV deal, the Hornets were still at one point owned by the League. And their two current primary partners are in severe debt. The regional sports networks were on the verge of collapse (before Diamond Sports Group was rescued by Amazon).

Just because we haven't seen the extreme in a while, doesn't make the NBA not mindful of the possibility.

Prime is also a multi-faced beast. Granted they aren't anywhere near the top of video or music streaming but they offer both and that is not the reason most people get prime.... They can weather the storm

Isaac seems like an attainable FA target who would be great at the 4.

Yea there is baggage, but he is excellent when he's playing.

Franz had 34 on 17 shots. We'll never have a young stud like that, will we?

I think the Bucks if they lose out, will have had one of the worst seasons in recent history. Not from record obviously. But in terms of circumstance that they caused on their own.

From trading for a star while making your rival even better. Now Lillard is already privately disgruntled. To firing a coach, to get an even worse replacement so far. It's a disaster.

But I actually think PHX maybe neck and neck.

PHX is locked into this team for the foreseeable future. KD is still KD but will be a year older (36). Booker is Booker but Beal did not make them into this powerhouse. He has missed alot of games and they could say chemistry is one of the reasons but I am not sure about that.

They literally cannot make any more moves to the team. They have to hope and pray some 2 way or little known free agent becomes a big contributor.

All AK had to do was put better protections on the first pick they gave up for Vucevic and Franz would be on the Bulls. I bet that Orlando still would've made that deal because the idea was that the Bulls would make the playoffs that year.

I agree. Milwaukee has a little room to maneuver while Phoenix is very limited.

Do the Bucks trade Lillard if they don't go far in the playoffs?

My bingo card did not have a team with Jarrett Allen (above-average center), Evan Mobley (above-average #4), Darius Garland (pretty good guard), and Donovan Mitchell (truly good guard) getting blown out two straight games by a #6 seed. Given that Cleveland melted in last year's playoffs, I think I need to re-rate some of these players. If you flop in the playoffs repeatedly, you just aren't that good.

On the flip side, congrats to Franz and the Magic for being a fun young team that is exceeding most expectations. Including mine.

He just rarely plays. I like his talent too but last thing we need is a player that can’t play.
