I always wondered how involved owners are in transactions. The cap space and contracts are already set. What needs to be said?lol

There's a cap floor but beyond that, it's money out of ownership's pocket.

This seems inadvisable by Poles to keep playing up when asked. OTOH, Caleb does it as well. Hope they both understand what they are doing. If Caleb thrives on pressure, it won’t matter though. But he had better thrive on pressure

I wouldn't view that as "playing up" the comp. He's just responding to a question, and says that he sees "some similarities". He also says he sees similarities with Caleb with a lot of other QBs. He's not going around saying "WE ARE GETTING THE NEXT PATRICK MAHOMES EVERYBODY!!" I don't see anything wrong with admitting what everyone else sees as well. He's also showing he's got confidence in Caleb, and that has to make Caleb feel like he's wanted and appreciated.

Steelers only have until May 2nd to pick up Justin's extension. If they don't, he's a FA after next year. If they do though, they're on the hook for 25 mil for 2025. Hard to imagine them wanted to put themselves in that position, without having much of a chance to work with Justin prior.

I don’t think they will pick up the option. They will probably see how the season plays out. If he replaces Russell Wilson as QB1 and does well, then they will offer him a contract as a FA

At least that drama would be off for a few years

If Cowboys do that deal for Dak, that'll likely means they won't see a Super Bowl during the Dak era. Dallas would be better off letting Prescott walk.

The hype for Caleb is unreal, which is kinda scary and will be interesting to see how expectations vs reality play out. But with the 17 game season and high performance bar set by rookie CJ last year, the bar will be crazy high for Caleb in year one.

4k yards for CW isn't out of the question if he manages to stay healthy all 17 games.

Barring the Bears being in blow-outs requiring extra throwing, I have to think they will try to lean on the running game to protect and not expose Caleb while he gets acclimated to the NFL.

Not saying I expect Caleb to throw for 4k, but I wouldn't be surprised. 5 rookies have done it the past 13 seasons and Caleb is coming into a situation that is much better than most.

I think a lot of people have been underestimating, me included, how good of a situation Caleb will be coming into. I keep trying to wrap my head around it and I still struggle. I still expect a rookie QB to be bad, however, what if he is as good as Stroud was last year. This team would be a favorite to win the NFC if that is the case.

It's too easy to fantisize about Stroud, but let statistics guide us. The vast vast vast majority of 1st round QB's struggle mightily as rookies, if they play. And c'mon, Caleb is a shorty with girl nails! ;)

He clearly doesn't know how to quarterback.

He’s getting roasted on twitter for this. Hopefully he has thick skin.

236 yards per x 17 games for 4k yards (4,012 to be exact) . I think that's very doable for Caleb. I'll be interested to see how much they decide to lean on the run game and protect him. I think we ran way more than we passed (Including Fields scrambling), I don't think that philosophy will change, but maybe the difference won't be so dramatic.

It only takes 235/game to reach 4K, if you play all 17 games. Not impossible. I'm sure he'll have some duds in there, but also some 300+ games.
