Wallace for Lafrentz, Frye and 09 pick

Post#1 » by see4miles » Fri Jan 4, 2008 3:57 pm

Hello. Portland fan here.

I don't think that the Wallace experiment has worked out as well as you had hoped. I think you need to make some tough decisions and also play some of your youth and create attractive trade packages.

LaFrentz fits that category... a good teammate who can contribute well when called upon and not bitch too much when he's on the bench.

Frye is a talented player who can back up Noah or slide to the PF position, offering a different style of play to TT.

The pick can be used or more likely added to a sign and trade to make it more appealing so you can get a player you're after.

You get less salary, an opportunity to play your youth and a pick for a player with a low trade level.

I think this is good for the Blazers because it will galvanise Wallace again this (relative) failure and he will be invaluable as a reserve during the playoffs. Also we really need someone who can rebound!

What do you think?

I think it would be a good trade or the Bulls. Make the 2009 pick a 2008 pick and it works fine for me. Lafrentz is a big body who won't rock the boat and also has a shorter contract than Wallace. Frye would be an added bonus with his nice jump shot. good complement to Noah.

Counter offer: Raef LaFrentz and your '08 pick (top 10 protected, unprotected in '09).

Cliff Levingston could care less about Frye; another soft jump shooter who really isn't any good. The only thing he's truly contribute is getting in the way of the young guys.

LaFrentz can ride the pine and expire a year earlier than Wallace while also costing less this year and next, helping us clear a little more room for Deng/Gordon. We use the '08 pick on another big guard.

I will take that! Frye would succeed on the pick & pop moves, where he can step out and hit that Jumper. We'll need our guards & deng/noc to crash the O-boards though, meaning less fast break points. We'd become Portland-Lite (or the lesser version of Portland, out east).

Cliff Levingston just wants Wallace off the team and nothing in return (from a roster standpoint). Give all of Wallace's minutes to Noah, Thomas and Gray and we'll be better team by the end of the season at the latest.

Trade 1 big man for 2 more? WTF?

We need to get rid of a big man so we can get Noah and Gray their minutes.

Wallace for 6'6" player to be named later.

Anyone got Satan's mobile phone number? Maybe we can offer up a trade. One soul for more minutes for TT, Noah, & Gray, PLUS WINS? I think that's a fair trade!

I can agree to Cliff L's offer but make it top three protected in 09... you bulls are lucky that way...

Somebody wanted a 6'6" player?

How about a 6'9" player instead...
Miles, Frye, Jack and Green for Wallace and a pick?

Agreed, I don't care how lobsided it might be against us quite frankly.

That'd be fine, but you're blatantly incorrect about the "Bulls are lucky that way" comment. Were the Bulls lucky to get the 2nd overall pick in a year where the age requirement went into effect, preventing us from getting Durant? Or maybe it was the utter crap free agents available in '06 when we had tons of cap space available.
Just venting.

Miles, Frye, Jack and Green for Wallace and a pick?

- We have no need for Miles.
- We have no need for Frye.
- We have no need for Green.

But Jack would be lovely. Replace the pick with Jack in our previous trade and that's a winner! Wallace for LaFrentz and Jack.

I was getting excited for a second that someone who actually watched Wallace this year wanted him on their team.
