Astros @ Reds

Well, we lost game 1 of the series when Fogg was blasted early and often.

Tonight we took it to extra innings only to have our high priced closer come in and give up 4 runs in the top of the 10th. He has been doing this the whole second half of the season when he gets called into action.

Manager Dusty Baker continues to search for ways to break the Reds out of the post-Ken Griffey Jr. funk. In seven games since the Griffey trade, the Reds have won once. They wasted opportunities last weekend in Washington and didn't play their best baseball in two losses to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Johnny Cueto recorded nine strikeouts in five innings. Masset came in and gave up a couple of runs in 2 innings of work. I see a trend developing with this guy already.

Streaks: L4
Last 10: 2-8
Home: 31-29 Road: 21-36
Runs Scored: 505
Runs Against: 594

As the season progresses it becomes more and more clear that Dusty and a couple of managers before him are not and have not been the problem with this team. Like you said King, the only positive that can be salvaged from this season is the youth movement.

What kind of changes would you like to see us make in the off season this year? Personally, the move I would like to see us make the most is a quality catcher that has a little pop in his bat. Probably the wisest move that this team could make would be to add a proven leader or two that has/have played on a winning team in the past. It might rub off on some of the talented youngsters we have.

Thoughts?
