Over/Under 2010 Indians

Post#1 » by Furrski » Mon Mar 29, 2010 2:49 pm

If anyone cares to make any Over/Under predictions, it could add a little spice to this rebuilding year. The team is not expected to contend and there is no buzz whatsoever, a high contrast to the past five season openers where we've seen our window windexed squeaky clean, opened fully to let in the warm winning-baseball breeze and, with the recent trades of our cornerstones, failed to secure to the top of the frame, and slammed down on our unsuspecting fingers.

A few faces from the contenders are still on the opening day roster: Sizemore, Pronk, Peralta, Westbrook, Carmona.
As are some promising young position players who are coming into their own: Asdrubal Cabrera, Shin-Soo Choo
And another group of probable core hitters who will contribute this year: Carlos Santana, Matt Laporta, Michael Brantley.

That leaves the pitching to be the key to this wave of talent becoming successful. There is plenty of young pitching talent in the system as a whole, but not the gauranteed no.1 ace, so the only thing we can do is wait and see a) who stays healthy and b) who will step up when they get their opportunity.

Mark Shapiro has been both highly praised and critcized for his work as GM. Some label his work here exceptional, and the model for a mid market, and some say he has been completely overrated due to the ups and downs. Either way, this group of young players' success will define Shapiro's legacy.

Thats my simple take on the state of this team. Anyone want to take a crack at some Over/Unders?
