I hope Young can play DH and Martinis can play catcher .Avila should be sitting this one out.

But will they be without Delmon Young for the American League Championship Series?

No Tiger had ever hit three home runs in the same postseason series before Young connected for his third in the first inning of Thursday night's 3-2 victory over the Yankees in dramatic Game 5 of their Division Series.

"I don't know," Young said during the postgame celebration about the severity of what's being called a mild oblique strain.

It was severe enough to knock Young out of the game after six innings, though.

"I did it on a swing," he said.

Apparent rotation from Leyland

Game 1 Verlander
Game 2 Porcello
Game 3 Fister
Game 4 Scherzer
Game 5 Verlander
Game 6 Porcello
Game 7 Fister

It's less than ideal but thats how the rotation goes. Who else can you pitch after JV? Fister just started and Scherzer pitched in relief. And then in game 6, same story.

Again, it isn't ideal, but we get to (potentially) throw JV and Fister twice, so you take it

Yeah there's not really any other ideal options.

Fister has to be scheduled for 2 games and there's no way to start him in the first 2. And if he started the 4th then he wouldn't have enough rest for 7. So by default the lineup starts with Fister being forced into the 3 and 7 spot. Then, you need Verlander to pitch twice, so he has to pitch 1 and 5, or 2 and 6. If not 1, then that means Porcello or Scherzer has to pitch 1, and Scherzer is obviously not rested enough, and having Porcello pitch 1 does nothing for us other than still giving him the chance to pitch two. So to give Scherzer a rest, we have to go 1 and 5 for Verlander. That just leaves 2, 4, and 6. So the only other possible way to do this is to have Scherzer go 2 and 6, so if Scherzer was able to pull it off and be ready by Game 2 then that would be the smarter play, but if he's not then this lineup is the best we can do.

New pitching schedule ,maybe leland seen my post.

Meanwhile, Leyland announced that after Justin Verlander starts Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, Max Scherzer will start Game 2, Doug Fister will start Game 3 and Rick Porcello will go in Game 4.

Yeah Kell was right on the money on knowing that the lineup didn't make sense, we got a sharp one here!

I'm more worried about our offense, honestly. We looked lethargic against a pitching staff that wasn't that good. It was basically who sucked less with RISP, and I don't want to play that type of game against the Rangers.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Tigers left fielder and No. 3 hitter Delmon Young will miss the championship series with Texas because of a strained oblique muscle. Young isn't on the roster for the best-of-seven series that opens tonight.

Verlander was squeezed hard last night: http://mlb.sbnation.com/2011/10/8/24780 ... in/2241648

Had he gotten some of those calls, maybe he wouldn't have been forced to throw meatballs to actually get strikes, or not get worn out so early (80+ pitches in 4 innings).
