Amazing. Under no circumstances should pitchers pitch to him in the 9th. I'm glad they do, though.

Concerning the call that got two Tigers ejected in the 4th inning, here's what the umpire had to say.

''That's really on me because I should've seen the ball change directions,'' Davidson said following the game.

Much respect to the ump for that. It's impressive when the umpires are man enough to admit their mistakes.

I can't believe they're still pitching to him at all with a base open.

Well Miggy got hurt again last night, let's hope it isn't serious.

Nope, not serious.

Does Torii Hunter now look like a fantastic off-season signing, naysayers?

I want to write a line about Miggy to the tune of Biggy, but I'm afraid it wouldn't work.

And Hunter's proved his worth ages ago.

Hunter has been crazy good. Him, Jackson and Castellanos should be the starting OF next year

Torii has no doubt been a great addition.

I also have to say I've been pleasantly surprised by what Martinez has done after a slow start.

The big disappointments in terms of position players have been Dirks and Fielder.

Fielder is going through a divorce, so that is likely having an effect on him.

Wonder what JV's excuse is, some guy on ESPN said he's going to end up all Barry Zito, god I hope not.

Playoff Rotation! Who do you have the most confidence in? This year it's really difficult to separate the top 4.

Personally, my confidence in them this year goes in this order:
1. Sanchez
2. Scherzer
3. Verlander
4. Fister
(5. Porcello)

Even Porcello has been coming on strong, but there's no way he's in the playoff rotation. Maybe he can throw some long relief. I don't think the above will be the order, that's just how I've got them this year.

I'd flip one and two, but other than that agree totally.

Well, the Tigers clinched a playoff spot, but the big story of the day was Casey Fien pitching a perfect third of an inning. If he had been allowed to pitch the entire game and kept up that pace (and don't kid yourself, surely he would have), he would have finished the game with a Perfect Game and an MLB record 27 strikeouts. Thank God Minnesota didn't unleash that fury upon us.

If Fien could be signed for a reasonable price, I would do it. But I'm guessing he wouldn't.

I must be a curse for the Tigers. I've been to six games this year, including Opening Day and today, and Opening Day was the only game they won of the six.

I normally don't get excited by baseball, but that Scherzer inning....even watching it after the fact, was incredible.
