Tigers acquire Jacque Jones from Cubbies...

Post#1 » by Low-Ki » Mon Nov 12, 2007 8:04 pm

Tigs traded backup 2B/CF Omar Infante to the Chicago Cubs for LF Jacque Jones it was announced today. Jones who is in the last year of a three-year deal will likely platoon in LF with Marcus Thames. Infante was expected to be moved this off-season, with Raburn and Santiago passing him on the back-up infield depth charts.

Jones hit .285 last year though with only 5HR down drastically from 27 in 'o6 and 23 in 'o5. Was last year's power drop an anomoly or did Jones age five years over the 2006 off-season?

Tigs seem to have their positional line-up in order, assuming Santiago, Raburn, Thames and Wilson/Rabelo round out their banch. Now they need to turn their focus to the rotation and bullpen.

1B-Carlos Guillen
2B-Placido Polanco
3B-Brandon Inge
SS-Edgar Renteria
RF-Magglio Ordonez
CF-Curtis Granderson
LF-Jacque Jones
DH-Gary Sheffield

Bench -
Marcus Thames (Start in LF against LHP, back up 1B)
Ramon Santiago (SS/2B)
Ryan Rabuen (Corner OF/3B/2B)
Wilson/Rabelo (back-up catcher)
