The Athletics traded left-handed pitcher Scott Kazmir to the Astros on Thursday, the A's announced.

In exchanged for Kazmir, the Astros sent pitcher Daniel Mengden and catcher Jacob Nottingham to the A's. Kazmir is 5-5 with a 2.38 ERA in 18 starts this season.

I don't know anything about the guys we gave up but this is rather exciting and unexpected news.

With Lowrie now working his way back doing rehab assignments, I wonder if they will still try to trade for a bat?
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

I did not see this one coming!

Good acquisition for a couple of prospects who were kind of middle of the pack value-wise from what I understand. They still have some of the bigger trade chips available if they want another pitcher or to get a big bat.

Kazmir lives in Houston, so maybe he's willing to look at our team long-term!

I like this move. Now to get a bat like Cespedes/CarGo/Gomez and we'd be set. Damn would have like Cueto or Price too. I think we need to upgrade from Carter and Castro. Time to give up on them

You guys think that the rumors of the Cole Hamels pursuit are legit?

I'm thinking that they are trying to drive up his price for the Rangers.
