I'm not too high on the idea of getting rid of Everett, ONLY because it's going to be very hard to find someone who plays even close to the same defense that also has a significantly better bat.

I mean I'm all for it if we find that guy but that won't be easy at all. I'm much more concerned about the 3rd OF position, every day 3B/2B, and an upgrade at C.

Not to mention our extreme lack of a bullpen/starting rotation.

We have alot of work to do, but atleast it won't be Poopura making the decisions.

Cursed or not(he is), I have to admit he'd be insanely fun to watch in an Astros uniform, and can you imagine the numbers he'd put up in our park?

My god.

Lets be real, who do we have a chance at? Were in our rebuilding years, I honestly don't think were going anywhere next year.

They really need to be smart, draft well, SIGN THE TOP DRAFT PICKS, and stop trying to build a winner through FA.

We don't need to overpay veterans who might not make much of a difference or be here for very long, we need to build up our farm system and find solid players who don't cost too much that can contribute on a daily basis.

I know Lance/Oswalt/Lee aren't getting any younger but they are all in their prime and Pence is young. I can't see any realistic options of building a "win now" team through FA or even through trades, we need some young talent.

Indians/Rockies are a pretty good example. Yankees are a bad example(even with their massive payroll they suck).

Would love that if he doesn't cost too much but I can't even begin to see that happening, and I know damn well we have no chance in HELL of getting A-Rod either...

I wish we had a chance at Santana but lol, yea right.

Like I said in my previous post we need to really focus on our farm system, draft well and sign our top picks, if we trade people trade for young talent so that even if we're good the next couple years we won't be a "win now and suck for several years after" team which is exactly what we are now.

If we're going to build a legit contender for years to come we need to do it right. Overpaying for older/overrated players isn't the way to go.

Ken Rosenthal reported we will go hard after Luis Castillo. I would love that move. He is an upgrade defensively over Burke and can make a good leadoff hitter.

We traded Josh Anderson for Oscar Villareal and also signed FA Yordany Ramirez

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bb/5308490.html

"Villarreal, 25, went 2-2 with a 4.24 ERA and one save in 51 games for the Braves this year and is 23-12 with a 3.71 ERA in 223 games with the Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks. Ramirez, 23, hit .315 with four homers, 18 RBIs and six stolen bases in 30 games this season for San Diego's Class AAA affiliate in Portland, Ore."

Not bad. Ramirez sounds like he could be a good prospect:

"Ramirez spent most of this year at Class A Lake Elsinore and hit .269 with four homers, 43 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. He's currently playing for Licey in the Dominican Winter League, hitting .344 with five RBIs in 12 games.
