Rude Awakening for St. Louis Rookie

Post#1706 » by Ranma » Mon Jul 25, 2016 1:02 am

Kendrick makes up for his gaffe in LF that lead to a run being scored with a 2-run opposite-field HR. Mike Mayers leaves the game after 1.1 innings in his major-league debut with a 60.75 ERA.

I wanted a sweep and we should have gotten it but I said 5-4 would be good enough for this trip and thankfully it was good enough for gaining 3.5 on the Giants.

Loving how this team fights and responds to adversity.

And the days off this week are going to be fantastic for our pen.

2015- 56-45
2014- 56-45
2013- 53-48

Don't forget that the sky is falling and Friedman ruined the team.
Don't forget to tell Brandon Belt that the Giants are winning the division because the front office made the team worse like Dylan Hernandez.

I was critical of off days for Seager earlier in the year:
1) He was Young
2) He hadn't demonstrated he couldn't hit lefties.

but it's starting to look like he struggles against lefties.

Very happy that the Giants continue to lose.

Very disappointed in our players running to the media and discussing that they would like specific players dealt in order to get better.
Keep your mouth shut and play the game with the team they give you. That does nothing but cause chaos, confusion, and cause the media to point the bullseye at our front office.

The last thing they need is a bunch of idiots pressuring them to do something stupid like taking on Ian Kennedy's deal to get Wade Davis.

Defined Roles: Players Play, Front Office Makes Deals

Post#1712 » by Ranma » Fri Jul 29, 2016 3:05 pm

Agreed. If it were up to the players last season, we'd have dealt the farm for Cole Hamels. Outside of Adrian Gonzalez, those same players probably would have had Corey Seager dealt by now. Like Doc Rivers, the players care about the short term with their whining that we're not doing enough to win now. Do your job. If you don't like it, we can always deal your malcontent butt somewhere else. Trading for starting and relief pitchers isn't going to solve our problem with the lack of timely hitting, which has existed since the Mattingly era. The players themselves should hold themselves more accountable instead of constantly looking for the front office and organization to keep bailing them out.

I am so sick and tired of LA times keeping bringing up Cole Hamels deal that wasn't. those idiots wanted Urias+Seager+2 more elite prospects gone in 2015 to have aging Cole next to Kershaw and Greinke, do not remember what happened the last time thos same pundits wanted Roy Holladay for Kershaw, or when Tommy thought Pedro was too small, or Paul Konerko had too slow of a bat speed.

writers like Dylan Hernandez keeps bringing up about the 'missed' opportunities like Cole last season and the last WC ring was back 28 years ago, like baseball will seize to exist if we don't win it all this season. maybe some of those fans were not even born back in 88. but guess what this game called baseball will continue to exist, and the dodgers need to play competitively for the next decades and possibly centries, not act like 'this season' or 'last season' was the only chance at glory. smfh. :nonono:

looks like I just came in to blow my steam after everyone else already have said the same thing, lol

yeah was glad to watch the Gnats lose, watched all 9 innings last night and was impressioned with Tanner Roark. but man Dusty Baker does not know how to manage the bullpen at all. he needlessly kept that game too close for comfort unitl the very last out.

Paul Konerko was right around the time I started watching the Dodgers and growing into a fan. :nonono:

I've always said this about teams. They want a pound of flesh from our team before they deal with us. It's possible the Rangers had enough depth to give the Phillies volume but no prospect they offered is on the level of DeLeon at this point nor were they on his level a year ago. If we were the Anycity Anythings (and not the Dodgers), DeLeon would have been more than enough to work a deal for Hamels.

Anywho.
I just hate the hypocrisy. Everybody wants to rub in our face how the Giants and Cardinals do things. Then when we attempt to strengthen our organization in a similar manner, we get criticized for not doing the exact opposite of what the Giants and Cardinals do. None of these trades we dream up would even be possible if Friedman, Farhan and Byrnes didnt work aggressively to build up the depth of our farm. You could have Ned here taking Ian Kennedy's deal for Wade. Have some damn respect for the fact that you even have options to complain about.

Very concerned about our bullpen and whether it has been "over worked". Liberatore went from nails to mush his last 2 outings.

And I think it's obvious we that we basically throw Blanton what seems like everyday. We need some of our make shift SP to get to through the 7th until we get Kershaw back who can consistently do it.

crap. game starts and Kazmir gives up a lead off home run to Segura.

we have got to capitalize it while the Gnats have not gotten themselves back in playing shape coming out of the all-star. they beat the Nats but they got lucky in the 7th to make it happen, I think it is likely that they lose tomorrow against GIo Gonzalez and we have got to win this one to keep up.

Lineup needs another bat...preferably a RH bat. But if we're going to play a guy like Toles, Adam Eaton is worth dealing for.

Nats get Melancon
Indians walking away with Lucroy.

There are bargains to be had out here and we are just going to stand pat. Annoying as hell but if this is our philosophy, stick to it and develop these guys.

More importantly, bring DeLeon up. Why in the hell would we wait until 2016 to give him his first major league action. Throw this kid now.
