As bad of a baserunning bonehead that was by Ethier, Mattingly is responsible for trying to make things happen, especially when our offense has proven to be inept with RISP and with the opponent's pitching stepping up their game. Donnie's laidback approach is a detriment in that regard. It's clear that we need to manufacture runs, so sitting back and letting things happen is absolutely tone deaf.

I wanted Crawford in lineup to start the series but he's been a waste of a spot in the batting order. The players and their manager have to play a smarter game.

Potato's laid back approach comes from being a AL player who had the option of having a DH. we play in NL where pitchers have to hit and small balls do make an impact in a short series like this one. laid back approach will give you a better record in a long season but in a short series, you need a NL like strategy.

Make Something Happen, Cap'n

Post#88 » by Ranma » Sun Oct 11, 2015 3:37 am

**** with his 1st career steal comes in the postseason and he was clearly bothering Syndergaard on the basepath. Chase comes through with the clutch pinch-hit single to give the Dodgers runners at the corners with only 1 out. We have to score in this situation.

first of all, I don't get why they don't pinch hit for Kendrick knowing Utley is a second base and Howie sucks against Colon. secondly, please let Seager come at bat this inning

Smarter Than Their Manager?

Post#95 » by Ranma » Sun Oct 11, 2015 3:43 am

Kendrick apparently took it upon himself with the missed bunt attempt. Way to use your noggin, Howie. We tie the game as Utley breaks up the doubleplay with the hard slide. This guy will run through a wall to get us a win. Way to go, Chase!

Getting Away with Something?

Post#99 » by Ranma » Sun Oct 11, 2015 3:51 am

Utley called safe upon reviewed appeal but he never touched the bag having left the field after being hit in the face in the collision. Mets have to appeal for the out to be called. However, I just read on the TrueBlueLA.com game thread that Utley may not need to touch the bag after all since the umpire called him out at the time. That may make some sense, but he should have to touch the bag, regardless.
