this is ridiculous man.

$300 million team and we can't get from the starter to Kenley on August 18th.

absolutely unacceptable and absolutely unbelievable.

How can this team waste an at bat like AJ Ellis's 8th inning at bat?
I'm truly more disgusted with tonight's loss than the Pittsburgh debacle. At least I knew watching that it was just an outlier and there's no way JJ was that bad. This loss was pathetic.

Climbing Uphill Only to Fall Off the Top

Post#243 » by Ranma » Wed Aug 19, 2015 8:07 pm

I agree. It's bad enough our starters outside of Kershaw and Greinke can't seem to put up a respectable cumulative record, but to consistently waste quality outings by our Cy Young award winners is deplorable. How can we continue to waste 6 or 7 innings of topnotch pitching by undoing such efforts by finding ways to flub an inning of work?

Now Puig is hindered by another hamstring ailment.

things would have been very different if Ryu's shoulder held up. I also think it is time to give Magic Mike his place in the rotation again.

Trusting Internal Options

I agree. The Dodgers, whether under Colletti or Friedman, tend to look outside the organization instead of counting on homegrown players. I know they're saying the aim is to get to the point to where we can count on internal options more but Bolsinger was doing a better job than either Latos or Wood have done so far. While I don't mind having Utley, **** and Peraza weren't given decent opportunities to show what they can do with extended time at 2B.

Zach Lee and Joe Wieland could each have at least been afforded an opportunity to redeem themselves after their respective rough outings on the mound. That's not even to mention that most observers think Corey Seager is ready for big-league play right now.

Meh…Whatever.
Everybody does it.

The AJ and Jimmy homers really masked the fact that we haven't been making good contact lately.
3 hits in the last 3 games? Against those guys?

yikes.

I can't accept that. I don't think either Kershaw or Greinke would do that and they're both doing just fine. I don't think it's sour grapes on my part if I'm upset that someone can blatantly cheat to accomplish something prestigious as a no-hitter. It just cheapens the accomplishment. If it's okay for everyone to do it, put it in the rulebook. I'm still a believer in the integrity of the game. We might as well go back to juicing the balls and corking the bats if lines can be crossed between competition and cheating.

this one is on the coaching staff, Donny Potatoes as well as Honeycutt and Wallach. I remember Tommy always asking for an umpire to check pitcher's gloves and bill of their caps anytime he suspected anything. I didn't see anything suspicious from Fiers but I did think his pitches were exceptionally and uncharacteristically spinning at a high rate, his effectively high fastballs giving an illusion of a "rising" fastball late in the innings... I too should have suspected pine tar.

let's bring back Nomo for tonight as a relief and send him out there with a healthy gob of vaseline. let's see how the ASStros like the opposite effect of pine tar. then scuff the ball tomorrow for Kershaw's slider. damn it lets bring back the spitball.
ehhhhh f it.

Weird what one leg infection did to Turner.

He's been awful.

Not sure who put the call on to run us out of the 7th (or 8th?) inning but I was certain some bull would occur when we ensured ourselves only one run to work with.

Dunno where our next win is coming from guys.
I'm about out of all the optimism I can have.

When you have stupid people running you out of innings on a 3-2 count….i dunno what to say.
thanks again as well bullpen.

losing both games in Oakland was a fluke, and losing 3 in a row to Pine Tar strutting Asstros was on us, as each game they only scored 3 runs per game. I was not surprised but once again disappointed in Donny Potato for not using Turner as a DH as his knees were giving him a ton of troubles all through out the series. but they are going into the 8th and the Gnats are losing to the Pirates 5 to 2. so we still have a game and a half lead.

the giants are heading into a back to back three game series against the red hot cubbies and the best team in baseball, the redbirds before they come to us. we get the Reds and their kid rotation, then the cubbies at home before hosting the Gnats. as it stands now, our pitchers for the Gnats series will be Anderson-Greinke-Kershaw.

the next nine games will define and shape who is the real contender in the NLW, and i will say it right now that after these nine games, we will be 3 and a half game up.

as for the bullpen, it is all on Don, once again. our guys do not have a defined role outside of Jensen and either play rarely or get abused in streaks. Yimi has a less than 1.00 WHIP. Baez is being lights out. Nicasio is at 1.300. JP has been luckier than good, but still effective. we haven't seen JJ in a while. I can't remember the last time we saw Avilan. out of all these guys, the guy Potato called upon was... Hatcher.

i'm with you.

today was deflating.
I think we'll bounce back in Cincinnati though.

I'll give Donnie a break in that spot. THe bullpen has been bad enough for him to just call on the hot hand. He wasn't expecting Kenley to blow it. Hatcher looked good his last 2 outings. I was fine with that move.

Baez blew game 1 in Oakland…and got banged around in Game 2 in Oakland I believe.

okay I have been a supporter of our FO and still am, but I have to make my first criticism of our Andrew and Co.

why the **** is Chris Hatcher still on the **** roster and sending advanced stat wise the best reliever we have in Garcia to bring back up Nicasio?

we just sent down our best non-closing relief arm with sub 1.000 WHIP guy for a 1.300 WHIP guy in order to protect a 1.364 WHIP guy? I understand that his FIP is better than 2 runs better than his ERA, but Hatcher is still the most questionable guy on our pen than any other pitcher we have there.

I do get that his SO/9 is better than 9.0 per 9 innings, and statistics are bound to swing one way or another to normalize the numbers as the sample size gets larger, but I wouldn't bet on Hatcher becoming the better option over Yimi over the next 5 weeks. I just don't quite get the logic of this. Yimi's WHIP is 0.985, 11.4 SO per 9 innings, 3.23 FIP is still better than Hatchers, and has more than a double of the sample size of innings to prove his worth.

this one is a true head scratcher... I haven't looked up but maybe it has to do with options and contract obligations... but we are so close to finish this season strong with a chance to win it all... why not put the best talent on the field at all times......
ehhhhh f it.

It's a head scratcher for sure.
Is it possible that we couldn't send Hatcher down?

Seems like Yimi will be back as soon as rosters expand…well, September 3rd for him specifically.
