No trade necessary.
I believe the Cavaliers board looks like this: Davis, Beal, Barnes.

They value Barnes over Kidd-Gilchrist because Barnes can shoot.

Is Beal and MKG difference is Durant & Mike Conley alike, THEN DO EVERYTHING TO DO THAT TRADE.

but if we're talking about relatively same players, then no.

Remove some protection from the pick Sacramento owes Cleveland and call it a day.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Two draft related trades:

Trade 1 - Varejao and #24 to Warriors for #7 (supposedly this has already been offered to the Cavs, who turned it down)

Trade 2 - #7 + #34 in 2012 and Sacramento's 1st round pick in 2013 + Cavs 2nd round pick in 2013 for Charlotte's #2 pick (who knows, if Charlotte isn't crazy about anyone, maybe they bite?)

Cavs draft Beal #2 and MKG at #4

Magic fan here.

Would you absorb the contract for Jason Richardson if we included this year's 19th overall pick?

This is his deal:
2012-13 $5,799,625
2013-14 $6,204,250
2014-2015 $6,601,125 (Player Option)

Yep. We have plenty of cap room, need to fill some roster space anyhow at the wing, and could then send 4 & 24 to Charlotte for 2 without batting an eye. I'll alert Luke Walton that he gets to spend this year at Disney World.

I meant without ORL taking back salary. Being under the cap you could absorb his deal. Maybe for trade technicality we'd have to swap something like 2nd rounders or something. So we couldn't take back Walton.

The 19th pick in the draft is not worth $18 million IMO

18 million is a lot, but it may only be 12 million or so due to the player option. Richardson may not want to be here for 3 years. Personally I think he would opt in to collect, but you never know. And to be honest he is overpaid, but 6 mil per year isnt really a lot in NBA terms, unless the team has a plan for free agency and that contract restricts the plan.
On the surface I would give this deal serious thought, but I dont know what the teams future plans are, but if Gee leaves in FA we will not only still be weak and or young at the wing positions but short on bodies as well. So, I would be good with this deal, at the very least it could give us more options to move up to get the player(s) the team really covets.

Excellent point. You can have next year's 2nd back while we take your following year's 2nd.

Depends what you're getting at 19... Perry Jones, Terence Jones, Royce White, Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo, Quincy Miller, Moe Harkless, Andrew Nicholson, Tony Wroten...

Make the right pick and you could find a starting caliber player paying him a million something a year...

Cavs send Varejao + 24th pick to Warriors
Cavs send Sacramento their 2013 first round pick back

Warriors send 7th pick to Sacramento

Sacramento sends 5th pick to Cavs.

Thoughts?

In fact, taking it one step further, wouldn't Charlotte trade #2 and Tyrus Thomas for #5 - especially if they knew they would land either Thomas Robinson or Harrison Barnes (assuming That either Wahington or Cavs draft MKG)?

Ya.....I could go down to the Casino and put 1,000 bucks on black 29.......I mean....if I win.....I get 38k.....think about it.......

And oh ya the Mavs are probably looking to dump the 17th pick to try and sign Deron. My guess is we wont have to pay 18 million for it.

I think you should give your front office a little bit more credit on their scouting ability than comparing them to going to a casino.

If you can get the 17th pick too isn't that just a bonus? Why is it either or between that and 19? Also your suggestion that $18M over 3 years would be back breaking for your team is ... IN-TER-ES-TING.....

You are more than welcome to post the trade on the GB to get unbiased feedback. Regardless of how you want to count the dollars - it is still 18 million dollars. But again - post it on the GB and see what happens.

Would the Cavs do this trade?

Post#184 » by RaulLopez » Wed Jun 27, 2012 8:00 pm

Al Jefferson, Raja Bell, Jazz first next year (some sort of protection, say top 10) for
Verajao, Walton and the number 4 pick.

Jazz really want Lillard and feel they have to jump the Kings to get him. The Jazz future bigs are Favors and Kanter, so AJ or Millsap have to be moved.

Jefferson gives you a proven 20 and 10 center to pair with Tristan. Plus a 1st round pick next year to help continue to build.

Seems like a win win. But I don't know what Cavs fans would think. So, what do you think?
