PG - Irving / Billups / Dellavedova
SG - Miller / Waiters / Harris
SF - James / Jones
PF - Marion / Thompson / Powell
C - Love / Varejao / Mozgov / Haywood

I'd like to see us get that kid E'taun Moore. He's a good defender, he can play a backup sg and pg. We need defenders. Rather have him than Billups or even Ray Allen.

But I do like your depth charge. I can't see a team playing with Lebron without spacing the floor, and that would be a very good solution. Using Love as a starting PF would mean he would have to space the floor, which he's good at, but we would lose all his rebounding and post moves. I think he would excell as an offensive C.

The only difference is I'd rather have E'taun Moore for Billups and I'd start with Waiters.

If this kid Harris pans out and can bring some scoring and defense from the bench, things would look pretty damn good.

If dion for whatever reason got traded too (I don't think he would) I would expect the Cavs to ask for Brewer from Minny. He would be a perfect fit in that lineup

Brewer is just OK. Good, but not great, defender. Not much of a ball handler. He is excellent at converting Love's outlet passes into easy points. Good team guy...

Dion is obviously the starter at the two right now. He shoots near 42% on spot-up threes, and I think we can safely say he'll be getting a lot of those this season. He's a great ball-handler and a good passer. He still has some work to do off the ball, but I trust that Blatt will have him constantly benefiting from cuts and screens in a way Mike Brown never could have imagined and Byron Scott was just too lazy to implement. He's also statistically an above average defender (not significantly above average, but still) who has the potential to be very good on that end.

I also don't get the argument that the Cavs need him to run the second unit. You do realize that we can start him and just stagger the rotations so we've always got two of Kyrie/LeBron/Love/Dion out there, right? We've got three All-Stars on our team, and another guy in Waiters with potential All-Star talent. We can literally go entire games without having an All-Star off the court. The concept of a second unit leader is overrated in our situation. Further, Blatt ran a lot of systems in Europe that implemented two combo guards, so he's very familiar with guys who play the game like Dion does and knows how to utilize them.

See my post in the Shawn Marion thread. Mods, it might be good to merge those two threads. Thanks.

Wait, you resurrected a thread from three months ago to ask that it be merged with another thread?, lol.

Anyway, as for the SG, the guy that should be starting (perimeter defender) is the guy we don't have. Which is why we're starting a forward in that spot.

I had to resurrect both threads because someone posted a similar topic after mine, and the conversation got split. :) Yeah, the focus shifted away from the 2 guard so much as it is really just the 5th person we put out there. I was saying it should be Marion over Waiters, and some people thought that was ridiculous. Better to have the defense than a 4th scorer. They seem to be going in that direction now though and I'm happy for them.

I'd say start Marion, but give Waiters a lot of minute off the bench.

Joe Harris will(or should) be starting come new year. I think he can fit right in and do what's asked of him very well.
