Brewers/Reds Series

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Sun Jun 13, 2021 10:27 pm

Monday - 7:10 - Guiterrez vs. Lauer
Tuesday - 7:10 - Castillo vs. Anderson
Wednesday - 1:10 - Mahle vs. Peralta
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Why do we have a 6 man rotation

I think trying to get through this 21 consecutive day/game stretch and also keep everyone's innings lower since nobody pitched a full season last year.

So... Hader is our best reliever, now with the extra inning rule change where a guy starts on 2nd... why don't we let hader pitch the 10th instead of the 9th? its the most high leverage situation.

My guess at the analytics of it is that you can't play the 10th if you don't hold the 9th. Using Hader and taking the other team's chances of scoring from, whatever, (total guess) 10% down to 5% is just as important there as taking a team's chances of scoring in the extra innings from 50% to 30% (again, complete guess) because you may not get to play that 10th or improve your own chances of winning in the 9th.

That said, there seems to be a simplification of things for Hader, not sure if it's to make him happy/for durability reasons or what...intuitively, it feels like having someone that can completely shut down the "man on 2nd" situation can win you a lot of games and that it may make sense to save him, so I have no idea.

Brewers need to find a few more bats. Jace, Roberson, Lopes, JBJ aren't even performing at replacement level.

JBJ is poised to have one of the worst batting seasons in MLB history for someone who actually gets a decent amount of at bats.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I felt bad for Freddy having to pitch with that lineup supporting him. The last nine batters in the order (Pina, Peterson, Lopes, Robertson, Peralta) are all batting .160 or lower. Just a silly bad lineup behind him today.
