Stoked they've signed an MLB player and am now all in on the season.

I don't know about that. If Keston hits like he did in 2019, he'll be a .300 hitter with 35 homers and 100 RBIs. That'll put him in the running for an all-star spot at 1B.

For reference, no qualified 1B hit .300 in 2019. Only three (Alonso, Freeman, Olson) hit more than 35 homers. And only four (Freeman, Alonso, Bell, Abreu) drove in more than 100 runs.

Of course, Keston will have to rediscover his hitting stroke to hit those numbers.

It’s possible that he hits .300 but I’m not sure very likely.

Most projections this year have him at .260 with a .330 OBP.

RBIs...that’s dependent mostly on the rest of the team. If Yelich is on base a lot, Hiura will get a lot of RBIs.

Wow, really nice to see two Asian Americans in the starting lineup, Hiura in 1B and Wong in 2B, and both guys were 1st round draft picks too.

I'm not even entirely sure this would be a wise move for the Brewers and it also seems likely that this is Turner's camp trying to squeeze every dollar they can out of LA, but it would probably be about the biggest FA splash the Brewers could realistically make if they pulled it off.

That would be so sweet. We'd have a pretty good looking lineup with some decent depth. Very curious to see what Turner's contract ends up looking like.

It would make this coming season more interesting for sure and there is some merit to going for it in weakened NL Central. The amount of $$$ and years we would have to commit to a 36 year old Turner to lure him out of LA would be interesting and pretty decent sized gamble for a franchise that will only push the payroll so high.

Yeah it seems totally like a leverage situation, but what would it be, like $15 million for 1 year?

I guess that signing + a cheap pitcher or two gets you around $100-105 million which probably comes in as a "eh, fine" budget from Mark A where he said he is going to be pinching pennies.

I would think he's full go - he opted out due to the headache of the COVID season right when it seemed like it was going to be a ****. I'd guess this one will go much more smoothly and people are probably less afraid this year - especially since Cain would be opting out of a full season's pay if he opted out again this year.

It'll be interesting to see what he brings. It looked like for the week or whatever he played that he might've put the hand issues behind him and was going to be a decent bat for the year, but we'll have to find out this year.

Turner probably would prefer returning to LA and I would still expect that but I also think there is at least some case for the Brewers being able to land him. If they throw an extra year and more $$$, the money might talk. Just speculating based on nothing but the Dodgers finally won the World Series so that box is checked and chapter could be closed with no regrets. This is almost certainly his last chance for a big contract and he has to make the most of it.

One interesting thing is that the Dodgers generally don't like going over the luxury tax threshold and right now they are $5 million away per Cot's. They may be able to finagle that in other ways, but I'm not sure Turner fits there.

That said, they seem to be in on Bauer so maybe they're going to go over for one year given they have a bunch of the old guard coming off the books next year and may dip back under.

I didn't take it seriously when the rumor was first floated but now it kind of feels more like it might happen, who knows?

Stearns said Cain is expected back
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Mark A and Stearns, do whatever you must to get the Justin Turner deal sealed and delivered. Turner will fill the blackhole at 3B very nicely for the Brewers.

Not sure 36 year old Justin Turner is the right option, maybe you get one good season, but I’m not going multiple years on a guy who is on the other side of his prime.
