This just doesn’t make any sense unless there’s something else in the works or Zo Cain is thinking of hanging it up for good.

Brewers (15th, 2.0 WAR)
I wouldn’t have added the Brewers here based simply on their projections and ranking, as Lorenzo Cain is back from his opt-out and can presumably still play. However, Robert Murray reported last week that the team is in the mix for Bradley, which suggests that they envision a configuration that would push Cain to right field at least part of the time at the expense of Avisaíl García, who hit for just an 82 wRC+ last year and has been below 100 in two years out of the last three.

:dontknow:

Has that DH decision been made yet? Maybe Stearns has a little inside info? Avi can DH if there is a DH in the NL. If not, this is a weird signing.

Is anyone actually upset that we might push Garcia to utility? Not that JBJ is a world beater by any stretch, but he has been consistently more valuable throughout his entire career.

No. I'm surprised by the JBJ move but definitely not upset. These playing time logjams tend to work themselves out.

No NL DH

It feels like Garcia remorse kind of move. The good news? Garcia is good every other year, so he is due and if a shrewd GM see that they can buy low on him or we can enjoy an up season out of him.

Just feels like a lot of money tied up in that 3rd/4th outfielder, but it really seems like we are trying to re-invent ourselves as a pitching/defensive first team. Wouldn't shock me to see Garcia get some time at 1st this year.

I'll add, Counsell did say this is the best top 6 pitching we have had...could be this is a strange going all in kind of move? Or obviously something more to come.

There could be more to come but I bet it is just a hedge against Cain not being Cain anymore and Garcia still sucking. There will be plenty of Ab's to go around.

Seems like the brewers are betting on the dead ball making a difference. Team is positioned to be a good defensive team with some small ball traits on O.

Pretty disappointing that the city didn’t think they could safely figure out a way to let 10-12k people sit outdoors spaced out in parking lots that can accommodate 40k.

Yeah, not sure what the rationale is there.

Maybe the Brewers see the lack of tailgating as a way to make more concession money with diminished crowds? Not that they were against it, but they didn't really fight to get it.

It sounds like they did, though.

As for going to a game, even once I'm vaccinated there's no way I'd go if I can't tailgate.

Tailgating is overrated.

When they first said they were submitting a plan they talked as if tailgating was going to happen. So it's probably the city that shut that down. Ridiculous. I tailgate about 90% of the time I go to games. Once in awhile there's no time if I'm going right from work.

The Brewers have always had a very generous policy regarding bringing in food but it looks like that's gone too. I guess they want to maximize their concession revenue.

It's a shame they can't get the universal DH thing worked out. I didn't for one second miss watching the pitchers hit last year.

Also it would really help out the Brewers the way their roster is shaping up, not even taking into account if Braun has designs of possibly making a midseason return.

I like tailgating alright, but don't love it to the point I build my gamedays around it. Definitely would still go to games even without tailgating.

Granted, I live 1000 miles away.

Should definitely keep Robertson in the roster as the utility guy, he can play 3B and all the infield positions as well as the outfield.
