Do We Re-Sign Greinke (Y/N): No, asking price gets too high after he has an amazing year.

I think this team is going to do very well. I think Ramirez and Gamel will be suitable to cover for the loss of Fielder's offense. Ramirez is such an upgrade over McGehee and Gonzalez will save a lot of runs on defense. Exact same starting staff in place everyone is more comfortable with a year under their belt and we have Krod for the entire season. I'm not sure where all the pessimism is coming from, other than losing Fielder we have almost the exact same team as last year and as I mentioned I believe we made some upgrades elsewhere which will help this team get back to the playoffs.

For me personally, I think that the Brewers overachieved last season, if not by talent, then certainly by their pythagrian win percentage. Their run profile was more like a 90-91 win team as opposed to 96.

I'm not as worried about losing Prince, and I think that you are right that Gamel, Ramirez, Gonzalez is about equal to Prince, Yunieksy, and McGehee. But I think one of our five projected starters will miss significant time and some of the injury luck from last year will wear off. The lineup is really right handed even if Gamel is legit.

I also think that as the team gets older, it is more likely that age attrition occurs. While I'm not predicting it to happen, Aramis Ramirez is 31 or 32. It wouldn't shock me if he fell off a cliff. Weeks and Hart are semi-injury prone and are a year older. Braun could succumb to the pressure of his initial suspension.

It's a good thing that they are in a weak division. The Cardinals have similar age risk, but I think they are frankly better than the Brewers. I'm not buying into the Reds hype, but they are probably only a couple of wins behind us. The NL East has 4 teams within close striking distance. I guess I would just be shocked if they won more than 92 games again.

I wouldnt exactly say last year we had a lucky health year. Greinke and hart missed time early, weeks was out a long time toward the end of they year, braun had some issues in the middle of the year, plus smaller ones here and there like gomez or kintler.

Ya I agree with this. I'm not sold on the Cardinals either. Losing one of the best managers and players in the history of the game should have a pretty devastating effect on that team. Carpenter's old and has neck issues, who knows how good Wainwright will be coming off a devastating injury.

I dont think the cards will be very good at all. They lost their best hitter, manager, and magician pitching coach. I also believe the reds are overrated by many.

I think Greinke is a legitimately good pick for NL Cy Young. I think he's going to have a monster year and price us out in the process, unfortunately.

I expect to see him getting a new deal in late april or may. Call it a prediction, but Braun and Gallardo got extensions during that time.
