Cespedes is probably praying to stay in Boston so that his numbers finally look good in this contract year.

I wouldn't touch him. He's a better defender, but offensively, he's barely better than Khris Davis.

I'm not sure I like Cespedes that much more than Parra. If they're going to trade a starter, they should get a decent middle infielder. I'm not counting on Segura or Gennett to even be mediocre. A guy like Prado or Zobrist would be a very reassuring presence on the roster.

Yes. I'd take Zobrist at this point even if I don't like his age or the value of a trade. A versatile player that can play the other side of platoons and most importantly, step in for Segura if he sucks again is key.

Yep, Khris Davis and him had almost identical numbers this year.

So much reverence for a career .264 hitter.

(I know his splits are more impressive but we've been talking about acquiring him incessantly on this forum like he's **** Trout).

Cruz to the Mariners, 4/$57. Enjoy losing your power touch at Safeco.

I know he's in his mid 30's but that seems like an incredible bargain for Cruz given some of the other deals being handed out.

Detroit has had some incredible trades over the years to get their big-name players but I have no idea what they are doing on some of these other ones.

So with the White Sox now signing Robertson they have spent $60 million on two relievers. How stupid.

I think the Indians are the favorite in the Central next year with the Moss addition.

Agreed. I don't see many scenarios where the Cubs future isn't bright, immediate future too. Worst of all is the Cubs fans are coming out of hibernation.

Hell, they'd passed us by us by the time September ended. Then they went out and got the game's best manager and the top FA starting pitcher.

Hard not to like the Cubs right now...

1. Bright GM & highly respectable Manager
2. Huge pocket book.
3. Best farm system in the league, and the fruits of that are about to enter the big show.
4. Acquired arguably the best pitcher on the Market.
5. Entire IF is young & they have the rights for awhile.

Melvin either needs to go All-IN this year or scrap this team, which I know for his job isn't ideal. We can't just stand pat, hope for a Wild Card with our aging crew, and then in 2-3 years these guys be done & still have no farm system. If you can get some prospects for Yovani, Lohse, Garza, Aramis, etc --- go for it.

Depending on if the Reds go all-in one last year. I think we're the worst team in the division with the oldest roster and worst farm system.

I don't see any way we make the playoffs next year and I hope they finally realize that what they've been doing isn't working and they decide to rebuild when they're 15 games out heading into July.
