Well now
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

What a stinker from the defence. Gotta bounce back from it.

Ashby looked okay to me, although I didn't watch every inning. Far from perfect obviously, but there was some good stuff in there, and the defense left him hanging out to dry. I'm not at all worried about the defense doing this on a regular basis, so I choose to be cautiously optimistic about this. Would be a shame to waste an 8-run performance, but it seems that the Brewers and Reds have had a lot of games like this in that ballpark over the years. It is what it is.

Amateur hour on defense tonight. Not acceptable for a major league team tbh

For a team that leans on defense, you cant have a stinker like that. Maybe its just an eclipse event

I just watched the extended highlights. That was amateur hour on defense. That had to be tough to swallow for Ashby.

He looked liked the other times he has been up. He is not anything good.

Results or stuff? Results are bad, but it's foolish to over-project based on results at this point. It's hard to K 10 per inning from day 1 in the majors, and he's doing it. That has more predictive power than the growing pains IMO. I still like his potential.

He has pitched 142 innings with a 4.66 era as a Brewer. Is sample size too small?

So the equivalent of maybe one full starter's season through age 24? Is that even a serious question? Of course it's too small, especially when the peripherals aren't that bad.

Results are all that matter in the end of course, you're not wrong about that, but this is still just the beginning. I thought his pitch arsenal looked decent, all things considered. He's got a lot to clean up obviously, but I think he will be pretty solid at minimum in the end, with some real upside. More than 1 K/inning projects very nicely for a pitcher that young.
