Two Mets hurlers have surgeries

Post#1 » by Go76ersGo » Tue May 17, 2011 6:01 am

NEW YORK -- Lost amidst the shock of David Wright's back injury was the news that New York Mets pitchers Chris Young and Jenrry Mejia had surgeries to repair season-ending injuries.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Mejia underwent Tommy John elbow surgery, which was performed by team doctor David Altchek.

"It was a clean tear. The elbow looked clean, other than the injury," Alderson said. "So from his standpoint it was an excellent result."

Hopefully he (Mejia)still pans out I could really see him as the future closer for the team (even though i'd love to see him start too). That sucks for Chris Young who was having a good year to start off and to end it on a season ending injury isn't good (wouldn't be opposed to signing him on a one year deal again in the offseason if he's still capable of pitching though).
