Trade Shawn Green

Post#1 » by DocZaius » Mon May 14, 2007 5:11 am

Even if Gomez didn't come up, I think its time to deal this guy for some prospects.

He is obviously a FA after this year, we are not gonna re-sign him, and right now his value is at its peak.

Before we just let this guy walk for nothing at the end of the year, get something back for him right now.

Not a bad idea, especially if we could get a perez like player (like the Nady trade).

but I wouldn't trade him for next to nothing.
Now it's all about the off-season for my Knicks. (and rooting for Boston to crush Indiana).

Seeing that we are stocked in the minors (even though the injuries are piling up) I would make a deal while his trade value is at his highest. He will not continue at this pace all year

I seriously doubt we could get anything of value like Oliver Perez for Green. Nady was an up and coming young ball player who doesn't make much money. Green makes way too much and he's a terrible fielder.

I think Omar will hang onto Green for the entire year as long as he hits. He's a great clubhouse guy, plus he's white. I think Omar is somewhat sensitive to the racial mix of the club and Green helps to balance things out. If it were up to me, I dump him and play Gomez, just because I love young speedy players who can cover a lot of ground in the outfield.

He already started to come back down to earth and his defense sucks.

Great he just hit a double, so that should buy him 3 more months.

Yeah but then his slow ass just got throw out by weak armed Soriano. :nonono:

Gomez would have been in the dugout by the time the throw reached Barrett.

Probably saw his last remaining supporter (LTK) fall by the wayside so he realized he must pick it up

Man I don't care if Green goes back to the homerun hitter he use to be, I want him gone. He never gets to any freaking ball, can't catch or throw.

we need him in case. even as a pinch hitter. I wouldn't want to mess up the chemistry that the Mets are having right now. The best it would be is if Chavez and Gomez play more as the season goes on and we get to rest Alou and Green so they'll be healthy when the postseason comes. We'll have all our bats by then and if Gomez isn't hitting during the postseason, Alou and Green will be more than happy to steal some at-bats from him.

Green as an extra-pinch hitter along with grandpa Julio Franco is pretty solid.
