SUBWAY SERIES THREAD | May 18th -> May 20th

Post#1 » by Jose7 » Thu May 17, 2007 9:06 pm

TIME FOR THE SWEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
LETS! GO! METS!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, May 18 Shea Stadium | 7:10 PM ET
NYY Andy Pettitte, LHP (2-2, 2.68)
Yankees (18-20) @ NYM Oliver Perez, LHP (4-3, 3.00)
Mets (26-14)

Scouting Report:
Yankees: Pettitte's tough luck crept up again in his last effort, a May 13 start at Seattle in which the left-hander limited the Mariners to two runs and nine hits in 7 1/3 innings. It wasn't enough, as the Yankees managed just one run and tagged Pettitte with his third loss since returning to New York. Pettitte is 2-1 with a 3.94 ERA in nine career starts at Shea Stadium and is 7-2 with a 3.39 ERA in 15 career starts against the Mets.

Mets: Perez came within two outs and one home run of a shutout, complete game and one-hitter against the high-scoring Brewers on Sunday. He achieved 13 of his 25 outs on fly balls and six on strikeouts, a Sid Fernandez-like performance to be sure. Perez clearly is becoming a more consistent pitcher.

Saturday, May 19 Shea Stadium | 3:55 PM ET
NYY Darrell Rasner, RHP (1-2, 3.28)
Yankees (18-20) @ NYM Tom Glavine, LHP (4-1, 3.31)
Mets (26-14)

Scouting Report:
Yankees: Rasner returns to the rotation after a brief stint in long relief to draw a vaunted Subway Series start aginst the Mets. A 26-year-old right-hander, Rasner claims to actually be a pretty solid hitter, but the Yankees will be far more interested in how he pitches, which has been pretty consistently so far in 2007.

Mets: Glavine was plagued more by bad luck than bad stuff in his no-decision against the Cubs on Monday, watching as popups and slow rollers turned into gift hits. It wasn't enough damage for a loss -- Glavine finished with four runs in six innings -- but it also wasn't good enough for win No. 295. He'll aim for that mark again on Saturday, in the second game of the Subway Series at Shea. Against the Yankees last year, Glavine was 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA.

Sunday, May 20 Shea Stadium | 8:05 PM ET
NYY Chien-Ming Wang, RHP (2-3, 4.54)
Yankees (18-20) @ NYM John Maine, RHP (5-1, 2.15)
Mets (26-14)

Scouting Report:
Yankees: The Yankees haven't yet decided if they'll bring back Wang on three days rest to pitch against the Mets, but he kept his effort economical against the White Sox on Wednesday, needing just 91 pitches to cruise through seven innings of one-run ball. The Yankees intend to discuss the matter further on Thursday morning. Another option to make the start is Triple-A left-hander Chase Wright, who made two starts in the Majors earlier this season but surrendered four consecutive home runs against the Red Sox at Fenway Park on April 22.

Mets: Maine didn't have his best stuff for the third straight outing last Tuesday, but again battled well enough to limit the Cubs to three runs in five innings. For the first time, however, that grit wasn't enough to avoid a loss, as Maine took his first defeat of the season. He'll look to get back on track against the Yankees Sunday night, in the first Interleague outing of his career. Maine has faced the Bombers once before while with Baltimore, allowing six earned runs in a one-inning start.

EDIT:

If any Yankee fans come here and take it over the line, be ready to deal with warning and we will not hesitate to suspend someone. Feel free to report any post that you think is trolling. Yankee fans are welcome to participate in discussions, but not to bash or make fun of posters.

Some loser named Tyler Clippard is pitching for the Yankees on Sunday. I think they brought him up from little league.

Nope, from Triple A. He is currently having a better season than the Philip Humber, the Mets so called future ace. :D

cmaff051, the skanks have everything to lose this series. When they lose both series against Boston and Us, just pack it up.

Should be a fun series. Friday looks like it will be a pitching dual. I like having Glav on the mound Saturday. Hopefully Sunday Maine pitches like the Maine we known and not the one that showed up the last game.

Ehhh it's not trolling. He's checking out what it likes to be a fan of a real baseball team. It's more like envy.
