Mets @ Dodgers Series Thread | June 11 -> June 13

Post#1 » by Jose7 » Mon Jun 11, 2007 6:50 pm

Happy B Day Jose, WE NEED TO WIN THIS SERIES!!!!!!

LETS GO MEtS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday, June 11 Purchase Tickets Dodger Stadium | 10:10 PM ET
NYM Orlando Hernandez, RHP (3-1, 1.94)
Mets (36-25) @ LAD Randy Wolf, LHP (7-4, 4.03)
Dodgers (35-28)

Scouting Report:
Mets: El Duque allowed no runs for third time on four starts, Wednesday night against the Phillies. He allowed three hits and walked four in six innings. He has allowed runs -- a total of four, three earned -- in only two of his past 33 innings.

Dodgers: Wolf encountered his usual first-inning struggles against the Padres, then just kept struggling. He was victimized twice by No. 8 hitter Geoff Blum with first base open on a two-run double and a two-run single. He was charged with five runs on eight hits in five innings and needed 95 pitches to get there. It was his second consecutive start of only five innings and he's allowed nine runs in those 10 innings.

Tuesday, June 12 Purchase Tickets Dodger Stadium | 10:10 PM ET
NYM John Maine, RHP (6-3, 2.78)
Mets (36-25) @ LAD Hong-Chih Kuo, LHP (0-1, 4.85)
Dodgers (35-28)

Scouting Report:
Mets: Maine did well in his last outing, allowing two runs in seven innings on Thursday against the Phillies at Shea Stadium. In nine of his 12 starts, the right-hander has permitted two earned runs or less. Maine ranks third in the NL East with a 1.85 ERA on the road. For his career, Maine is 1-0 against the Dogers; he pitched five innings with a 3.60 ERA in his start against them in 2006.

Dodgers: Kuo had his best outing of the season in his second start. He pitched six solid innings against the Padres, allowing one run on three hits. He walked four and struck out eight, tying a career high. He looked to be the winning pitcher when the Padres, trailing, 5-1, scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth. In that game against San Diego, Kuo pitched out of some tough jams early, leaving three runners in scoring position in the first three innings.

Wednesday, June 13 Purchase Tickets Dodger Stadium | 10:10 PM ET
NYM Jorge Sosa, RHP (6-1, 2.64)
Mets (36-25) @ LAD Brad Penny, RHP (7-1, 2.26)
Dodgers (35-28)

Scouting Report:
Mets: Sosa allowed no runs, three isolated singles, a double that Carlos Beltran might have caught and one walk over eight innings on Friday against the Tigers, a team on its way to at least 900 runs. He struck out five while picking up the win, his third straight.

Dodgers: Bouncing back from a lackluster performance at Pittsburgh, Penny was masterful on Friday night, as he limited the Toronto Blue Jays to a single run over 7 2/3 innings. Penny walked none and struck out seven, but he was denied a victory when Dodger closer Takashi Saito was unable to protect a 2-1 lead in the ninth. Penny is 3-10 lifetime against the Mets. It will be his first start against New York this season.

I have a feeling we get healthy and a little mad during this series. The pitching matchups favor us - I can't wait to tee-off on our whipping boy Brad Penny

 You would think being a Knick fan the Mets would be a lot easier to watch and stomach during the bad stretches. Either way my birthday falls on one of the other two days so its a win win even if the Mets lose.

I just find it funny, we couldn't score when they were pitching good. Now that the bats are picking up, the starters are pitching like crap.

Delgado since sometime in April is 5-45 with runners in scoring position. Why the heck was he batting clean up again?
