30 at age 30 for Cheap: Kendrys Morales

Starting a new series of threads paying tribute to Brian Cashman's new penchant for thinking, "Hey the Sawx pieced together a World Series with a bunch of mid tier free agents, I can do that too! Let's get some thirty year old athletes on the cheap!"

Except there's a problem with this concept. The Sawx were fortunate that David Ortiz recovered from his achilles' problems that plagued him a couple seasons ago. So it wasn't too hard placing big bats around him.

The heart of the Yanks run production has been problematic since 2010 when they folded against the Rangers after killing their pen in Game 1 of the ALCS. by 2013, it's been gutted and pretty much Cano is the only one who can be counted on as a consistent threat in the order. Key being consistent.

Think Morales could be a good short-term answer EXCEPT for the fact, the Mariners have used him primarily as a DH and the ONLY reason why he took a $2M deal was the fact, he's so injury prone that he's forced to take less to play.

Well give Cashman credit, he learned from his mistake of giving Youkalis $$$$$
