Brett Gardner's worth: Not enough for pitching

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Fri Dec 13, 2013 9:12 pm

Yanks allegedly looking into trading Brett Gardner for Austin Jackson? Yet ANOTHER Scott Boras client. That's a very crowded outfield but consider this:

1. NO WAY Carlos Beltran with his surgically repaired knees can handle CF Yankee stadium on a daily basis.

2. Jackson is younger, better fielder.

It does ask these questions:

1. Um, Why wasn't that considered before shelling out all this money for outfielders when the Yanks already have Soriano ($4M), Ichiro ($6M), Wells ($2M) on the books?

2. Who's playing 3rd? Who's closing? Every one is ok with the rotation?

Yanks are making the same mistake over valuing their players and assuming other teams will give up gems for re-furbished goods.
