Tanaka injured again - how bad?

Post#1 » by TNBT » Wed Apr 29, 2015 9:39 am

Tanaka out with a "forearm strain" if I recall correctly. He's saying it's nothing, but Cashman apparently has declared that it could be a precursor to Tommy John surgery. Just wondering what you guys over there have heard and what your thoughts are on the severity ad duration of this current injury?

What is concerning is that they immediately said he'd be out at least a month. If all it was was a strain I doubt they'd come out and announce that long of a time frame. My guess is that something else is going on in the arm. If it turns out that he needs TJ surgery then Cashman and the Yanks would have wasted a heck of a lot of valuable time by postponing the surgery in the first place (last season). If he has to have TJ surgery instead of possibly having him back for the 2016 season we may not see him until 2017 and will be yet another blunder by captain wonderpants.

Forearm issues are very often a result of elbow issues even though Tanaka is denying it, this is def a precursor to TJ. I hate cash-man but in this instance I think it's Tanaka holding up the surgery, not the organization. He needs to go under the knife and get this fixed now.

Im no Cashman defender, but 3-4 specialists last year said rehab, so they went that route

They should just shut him down till the All-Star Break. It's clear he came back too soon and the plasma whatever was an exotic way of avoiding surgery.
