After a month...where is this team?

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Mon May 4, 2015 4:56 pm

Yanks just swept the Sawx, padded their lead to 3 games in First Place. It's strange because this team is filled with mostly free agent and/or trade aquisitions. While I am happy this team is in first, it's a weird feeling....like someone I haven't gotten to know yet.

Thoughts..?

I'm still waiting for one shoe, followed by another shoe to drop. Something's going to happen.

The fact they're doing it with Tanaka mostly injured is even more mind boggling.

He never really looked right this season. If not surgery, he needs to rest until he's absolutely 100%. Dude logged a ton of work overseas and we've invested too much to be rushing him back, I really didn't think the opening day start was even necessary.

This team is legit and I'm pleasantly surprised. The difference has been pitching. In a division where most of the teams have inconsistent starting or bullpen, this has been a strength for bombers. They are getting a quality start more often than not and the bullpen has been dominant, especially setup and closer. I think pitching will continue to be a strength for Yanks. The lineup however is shaky and relies heavily on older guys. On a positive note Ellsbury and Gardner are doing an excellent job getting on base. In baseball starting pitchers keep you in games but timely hitting and bullpen win you games. The Yankees definitely have two. How well they ultimately do will depend on that lineup.

Slightly surprising but Pineda and Eovaldi definitely had the talent to step up.

I think yanks can keep it up for a while the division is shaky. No team is that strong. I liked Orioles to win it but they've gotten off to relatively slow start.

Going to be hard. The Orioles basically lost, thus far, the best hitter (Nelson Cruz) and best reliever (Andrew Miller) in baseball.
