Nick Swisher and the Oakland Athletics agreed Friday on a $26.75 million, five-year contract that also includes a one-year club option for 2012.
"It's hard to imagine what just happened," Swisher said. "I'm glad we got it done. This is something I've wanted. I think I've found a home in Oakland for a long time."
Way to get a core guy signed before he could hit the market... now with him and Haren locked up through 09, we could go either way - towards winning a division and more, or rebuilding... whichever fits our team best. I still don't know which way I'd want to go personally, but I'd still like a shakeup...
But more on topic, how great a signing is this? This guy's not only a great player but he's also a draw - I'd liken the beginning of his career to that of Jason Giambi's, except Swisher is a lot quicker and a lot less roid-ier...
