Noesi was garbage? So, let's see what's in the news...

Dammit. Well...that still better than Noesi. Call him up.

Tomorrow is suddenly terrifying. We used almost everyone in the pen, some with relatively high pitch counts. I like Chris Young for what he is, but who knows how deep he can get into a ball game? I have no idea who could be waiting in the wings as a call up if the team. Noesi won't survive when Iwakuma and Walker come back. There's no point in clinging to him.

Ooohhh...Lloyd McClendon interview! Bet he's happy...and he is not.

Mariners lose extra innings affair to Sean Barber, Athletics

Ideally, baseball games would be decided on merit alone. The most talented team doesn't always win, but the team with the best performance would. There wouldn't be weird factors outside of a team's control, and the end result would be some variation of whoever played the best on that very night.

That's a silly, unrealistic dream.

Tonight, Sean Barber, an umpire new to major league baseball, put on one of the biggest **** shows I can remember witnessing. His strike zone was wildly inconsistent, giving pitches in certain locations and taking them away later. He'd disallow a strike practically down the middle, only to allow it two batters later. His utter defiance to allow a strike at the top of the zone eventually infuriated Danny Farquhar, along with anybody else forced to watch such a horrific display.

Hector Noesi designated for reassignment. Did anyone else see that coming?

Thanks, Oakland. Game's cancelled due to rain even though it's not raining because they didn't put a tarp on the infield when it was raining. You run a tight ship over there.

Quick and decisive. Jack knows what is on the line this year...team has to win. Can't keep a guy around with potential who can't contribute.

wow! been posting here since '09, and i can barely remember any series game thread reaching 5 pages, let alone 5 pages for a single game.

this thread pretty much mirrors my hate fire from last night. still in awe about that 'ball' in the 5th, and wilhelmsen coming in during the 9th after furbush walked the first batter. bad medicine.

Anyone catch Jack's comments before the [cancelled] game? Basically said they liked Leone and Carson Smith in the spring but they kept Noesi to give them a little more time since they were't rushed...but since Noesi couldn't **** do that, and has done this before, they decide not to mess around with it.

Leone and Smith are both impressive. With Pryor also on on the way back soon, I'd be nervous if I'm Wilhelmsen and I'm struggling with my control.

Now that the Sounders have completely crapped the bed I can safely pay attention to the M's without feeling like I'm missing something.

Looks like a pitching duel so far...Strailly's dealing.

The Mariners have swung and missed at just about every single pitch. Which is frustrating because Felix is locked in like I haven't seen him in a while.
