We're winning, we're winning, we're winning....5-2 in the 7th.

6-2 now. Zunino 4 for 4, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, raising his batting average to .278 for the season, 2nd highest on the team behind Cano.

Good work Mike.

He got a little lucky on that looper over first base but I'll take it. This will be a nice unexpected win if the M's can just hang on for two more innings.

Also, I think it's time to call the Almonte experiment. He's not looking good at the plate at all. Keeping him leading off seems like a bad plan even if he does tend to see a fair amount of pitches per at bat. Getting on base is a little more important.

Frigging Rodney! Quit doing your Bobby Ayala imitation.

White knuckle time. Did you see Ackley dancing around in the outfield? It's a swamp out there. End this game before someone gets hurt trying to make a play.

The rains have stopped and we're finally able to see some baseball again. Saunders just laced a ground rule double into the gap to score another run. 4-1 M's and Kuroda's pitch count is taking a beating.

I don't think Elias is going anywhere when everybody gets healthy.

Nor should he. He looks better and better the more opportunities he gets. I was highly impressed with how deep he got into the game considering how many strikeouts he had. If that's what he has to offer as a #5 pitcher behind Felix/Iwakuma/Paxton/Walker and the offense can average 3 runs per game we could be an exceptionally tough team to beat.

I can't say this enough. It's all about the wild-card standings, rather than the divisional standings for us. That 5th wild card entrant changed the landscape. Right now, we're only 2 games back from both 4th and 5th wild card spot. We're in the hunt when you look at it that way. Forget about looking at the divisional standings when you check the regular standings. Click to the wild-card standings. That's all we need to know this year, where we're at in the wild-card standings.

The question then assuming everyone does come back healthy is who loses their roster spot. Ramirez is in the minors currently so they could shorten the rotation during off days. Assuming he stays there and Luetge and Maurer are gone, who gives up the last spot? Leone's numbers are on par with Farquar's, so if they're going strictly on performance he should stay. The three guys on the line would be Furbush, Wilhelmsen, and Beimel, but would Jack and Lloyd pull the trigger on one of them?

Which is good because the A's are just tough to knock down. It's amazing what they come up with on a shoestring budget in a lousy stadium.

That's a tough call. Assuming Chris Young shifts to the long relief role, I don't know who gets bounced from the pen. Once you get past Leutge, they've all pitched well enough to stick around. Decisions become even tougher once Pryor's healthy and Carson Smith is ready.
