The only thing keeping the game close is some bad luck. Elias may have given up some good contact earlier, but Chavez has had a couple balls absolutely tagged that just happened be right at someone.

I wonder if James Jones runs away with the CF job. We know he has speed, and he appears to have a strong throwing arm. He doesn't need to set the world on fire at the plate to be a good asset.

Definitely had a run or so stolen from us by bad luck.

I'm a newbie about Jones. Learning about him on-the-fly. :)

Me too. He's a man-child. Seemingly not intimidated by anything.

Hasn't had his best control tonight but he worked through it and has looked pretty good the last couple innings. Of all the players to make a difference, he feels like he came out of nowhere. With most prospects I can rely on what I've read to have some idea who they are. I don't think I heard one word about Elias until Spring Training.

Got himself a wicked curveball.

Bullpen's going to be key tonight, unless we blow it open. Even then...

I'd love to see the M's punish Doolittle.

Solid job by Elias. Kept us in the game. Gave us a chance to win it.

I had never heard about Jones until tonight. And I dont believe I heard about Elias until my boy Sweez mentioned him here haha. His curveball has progressed so much since his first start. Thinking about a Felix/Kuma/Elias/Walker/Paxton rotation is almost orgasmic.

I was just lucky enough to catch a couple of his Spring Training appearances when they first decided to give him a chance at starting. What he wasn't doing wasn't luck, and it wasn't against guys trying to make a team. He was battling against All Star level talent and holding his own.

God, that guy is just a bitch against left handed batters. His base numbers are misleading...he's one pitcher I do not enjoy facing. That Oakland bullpen is strong.

Leone's pitched well. The only person who's missed that point is the umpire. Here comes Furbush as my stomach begins to churn...

He did it. On three pitches.

Great job by the bullpen so far tonight. Props to them.

Now...an insurance run or two would be sweet here.

Yeah, Furbush looked awesome. He was due. He's struggled but he's not a bad pitcher.

And we're doing it against a damned good team with a damned good bullpen.

I'm going to count my chickens before they hatch now. We've already accomplished what we needed to. We've split the series already at a minimum. Tomorrow's gravy. And Felix is starting one of them. Can we actually win this series. :o

If this is Smoak's true talent level...say, a .250 batting average with a .330 OBP, limited HR power but amongst the league leaders in doubles, with good-to-great defense at first...are we fine with that? I think I am. I'll always wish for more but this is a player I can live with at 1B all things considered.

**** it...I want the sweep. The double header is their fault anyway. They should be gracious hosts and concede.

Yeah, maybe. He is a very good fielder. And he does do better than you think in the clutch.
