I think the FO will have a tough decision to make in the off season if DWill doesn't sign...either get younger or get better.
I honestly think it will be impossible to do both if we don't land DWill.

I agree..It won't be fun to rebuild..were not used to that.. but signing a bunch of older veterans...that option is the worst.

I know but I think I'd rather sign a combination of guys like Nash, KG, Allen, Camby etc... to 2 year deals to play out Dirk's contract than sign guys like Dragic, JR, Beasley, etc... to big long-term deals that extend beyond Dirk's contract.
At least the 1st option would force the FO to rebuild from scratch in 2 years.

If we are going the youth route I'd rather try to part ways with Dirk as soon as possible.

Sure sucks how this is all reliant on D Will.

But if Lowry should become available, he was a triple double machine in the beginning of last year and was great til he got injured..if we have someone like him at the PG, i know its not a sexy super star name..but we can build some more around that with maybe an Eric Gordon and so on.

All this suspense...

I'm just really hoping we don't trade away that draft pick. We need some serious youth on this team.

I hope we dont trade the pick either. I want me some Austin Rivers!!!! :D

Not huge on the Rivers bandwagon like other basketball fans. Ceiling seems limited to me.

Me either .... I want Terrance Ross..

The only scenario where I want to see Dallas trade the pick is if its trading up in this years draft.

Please don't do that. We need to offer our assets to fill needs. The only draft trade I think is either trading up or splitting into picks.

Apparently NO is looking to trade #10 if someone takes on either Okafor or Ariza. I'd take on 10 + Okafor...

What do we have that they could possibly want?

Odom + 17 for Okafor + 10

I think this is a deal that the mavs should try to jump on. Take on Okafor to get a C beside dirk and jump up 7 spots in the draft.

They can cut odom and save all that loot they would have had remaining on okafors contract.
They slide 7 spots in the process is more than fair.

Use 10 to draft a sg Lamb / Rivers / Ross

amnesty haywood and sign deron.

If Deron Williams to bound to stay at NJN, I think our best chance rest on taking on salary. New Orleans' offer is not bad at all.

#1 Dallas - New Oleans trade
Dallas trades: Lamar Odom, Vince Carter, Dominique Jones
New Orleans trades: Emeka Okafor, #10 Jeremy Lamb
#2 Trade #55 & either Calathes or Koponen for #35 with GSW.
#3 Draft #17 Kendall Marshall, #35 Festus Ezeli.
#4 Amnesty Brendan Haywood
#5 Re-sign J-Kidd & Mahinmi & Yi Jianlian.
#6 Sign T-Mac & Dooling.
#7 Work exclusively with Roddy B for 3 point shooting & change directions.
#8 Invent some alley-op offensive game plan for our bigs.

I think it is close to the cap number. If the efforts to get D-Will fail, I think to rebuild the team with draft pick is not bad at all. Though overpaid, Okafor's still an upgrade over Haywood. Jeremy Lamb would be the next Reggie Miller and franchise player for years to come. Kendall Marshall would be an heir to Kidd. Roddy B would model his game like Monta Ellis & take Jet's role.

We'll compete until the end of Dirk's era with solid competitors like Dooling and McGrady. We have solid defender at every position. OK, besides Dirk's. The roster is versatile enough to fight through injury problems.

C - Emeka Okafor / Ian Mahinmi / Festus Ezeli
PF - Dirk Nowitzki / Brandan Wright / Yi Jianlian
SF - Shawn Marion / Tracy McGrady
SG - Jeremy Lamb / Rodrigue Beaubois / Kelenna Azubuike
PG - Jason Kidd / Kendall Marshall / Kenyon Dooling

Small trade from the Bucks, What do you think?

Luc Mbah a Moute and 2nd rd for #17

Seems redundant to Marion as our primary perimeter stopper (with limited offensive ability). I guess I would not do it.

Just throwing out this trade idea without too much thought.
Would only consider it though if we still had cap space to sign DWill.

Atlanta receives:
Haywood/Marion/NO#10
Dallas recieves:
Okafor/Smith/Atlanta#23
NO receives:
Roddy/Dojo/Pachulia/Odom/Dallas#17

Then draft either Royce White or Jeff Taylor at 23.

Dwill/Kidd
Carter/Buke
Smith/White or Taylor
Dirk/Wright
Okafor/Mihinmi?
