How does this quote sound to you?

Post#1 » by JES12 » Thu May 16, 2013 2:13 am

I think many of us have felt this but don't want to believe that this could happen. What I am asking is if anyone heard the audio on this because the written quote is hard to decipher.

http://mavericks.scout.com/2/1290709.html
DIRK DONUT 8: On his contract as a recruiting point ...

"Yeah, I have one year on my deal then I'm coming off the books. Obviously if that helps us to be better I'm going to take a pay cut. At that point I'm going to be 36. That's part of the pitch. Cubes and Donnie have to be part of the pitch who have proven over the years what they can do. I think Dallas and the fans here and the sellout streak and the city to live in has to be in the top five in the league. And if not, then we have to have a Plan B.''

This whole quote does not appear to be proper English, especially the last sentence. Therefore, it is hard for me to understand what he is saying "if not" in reference to. If he had said "I think Dallas and the fans here the city to live in has to be in the top five in the league" I think he means the actual city is a top 5 city. But the way it is worded sound like he is trying to say those things need to be top 5 or there needs to be a plan B.

Did anyone catch how this sounded?

He meant the city.

Did you hear that or is that what you are getting from the quote?

From the quote, it was just probably written wrong. When I read it the first time, I didn't even think he was saying something else.

He;s obviously speaking to a Plan B if we don't get Paul and/or Dwight. Was that not apparent to anyone else?

Also, this is why I absolutely love Dirk Nowitzki. We are going to be so spoiled and have such high expectations when he retires.

I edited the title since the way I red it was not the way everyone else did.

i think he meant Dallas as a "top 5 city" to live in from an athlete's point of view. Must be a great metropolis with good tax considerations and all.

Listen for yourself.

He said that plan B means they gotta make a trade or sign and trade or something to get better. It's nothing really.

That was from Ben and Skin on monday, just saying if we don't get Dwight or CP3 we have to have a plan B is all.

I interpret it as Dallas area is a top 5 market that should attract superstars this offseason but if no superstars feel the same and fail to sign with us we need to go to plan B.
