I think Wright/1st round pick would be a pretty good deal for the Mavs.
However it would make a hole we currently have even bigger.
Look for a subsequent trade involving Nelson and either Jefferson or Crowder for a backup center.
Nelson/Jefferson (or Crowder) for Mihinmi?

He'd be what TC is to our 5 spot - just what we need. That J-Kidd like pass-first, rebounding and solidly defending point guard. Other than some 3s he doesn't need to provide much offense either. Would be absolutely perfect to have him.
Losing Wright however would hurt the bench and big man depth on all sorts of levels. He's been integral so far.
As for our PGs I'd be most keen to hang onto Devin compared to the others but hey let's see what happens.

A dream scenario would be for the Pistons to get in on this deal and make it a 3 team trade with the Mavs ending up with both Rondo and Greg Monroe.

He will not get Monroe in that way but if we can at least include the 76ers and they would take 2nd round a pick for KJ McDaniels or Alexey Shved...

Agree on all points. Huge upgrade in toughness. I think he and Ellis will get along to be honest. I'd hate to lose Wright but Dirk is getting older so...

A few trade ideas that actually work-

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=p22btyx

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=l897x5k

Picks would need to be sent out and from us as well I guess...

We aren't trading Dirk, Monta, Parsons or Chanlder... So taking back a larger contract will need a 3rd to with a traded player exception to make it work.

Not holding my breath anyway....

If a player like Rondo becomes available for scraps you go for it. Especially with a team that's loaded on all positions.
Something around Wright + Nelson + Felton and 1 or 2 picks. That should work from Cuban's end. Should the Celtics accept that is another story.

If he can be had for Wright, Nelson, and picks we simply have to do that. Becomes a priority to get JON to sign with us or make a small deal for a better backup than Smith. Maybe something like Felton and cash to buy out his option next year for ZaZa or something. Aminu can take all the backup 4 minutes Wright was getting. We just need a guy who can spell Tyson.

Get it done Donnie.

He plays defense. That is a positive. A great ball handler, which could be a positive or negative. We already have Ellis and Parsons who like to create shots. Will the three be able to play together?

We suck at drafting and developing players; therefore, does giving up picks matter much? I guess we would be looking something like Wright, Felton, and 2 number ones going out for Rondo. We would also have to do a separate trade to get a center back because losing Wright would be a huge whole at center.

Rondo interest me.
I'd like to know what type of value Boston is seeking in general and what they'd like from us.
I look forwarding to seeing things progress and I hope Cuban is serious about acquiring him.

In my opinion Rondo fits better than Dragic and He is true PG who pass first. Dragic is more SG/PG. Rondo is better defender and rebounder. Dragic is better scorer but Mavs have many options in offense.

Felton, Wright, and 2 firsts for Rondo would be a good deal for both teams. Wright is a beast, Felton is expiring, and the picks wont mean much anyway IMO... Not seeing much talent outside of the first few picks in this years draft. Very exciting that Woj reported this.. Must have a nugget of truth in it. Lets just hope we can get this done and hope that 2 of Rondo's former teammates (O'Neal and Allen) are down for a reunion.

I prefer Goran Dragić because he can play without the ball on his hands and he is better shooter but, if we can take rondo now it should be the priority..

Yeah I believe JO played under Carlisle and he's a former teammate of Rondo.

JO was a big part of the early 2000s Pacers under Carlisle. I really cannot think of a better place for him.

O'Neal looks like he still has something in the tank. He had a nice season last year as a backup in Oakland. He can provide 15 - 20 quality minutes off the bench. If we lose Wright to pick up Rondo and sign O'Neal, then it will be a nice upgrade.

Honestly, I don't see how the Mavs can pull this off. Boston is already hoarding a bunch of first round draft picks. I don't see why the need more picks.

2015 first round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
2016 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
2016 first round draft pick from Cleveland (Cleveland's 1st round pick to Boston protected for selections 1-10 in 2016, 1-10 in 2017 and 1-10 in 2018 and unprotected in 2019 [Boston-Brooklyn-Cleveland, 7/10/2014])
2018 first round draft pick from Brooklyn

I don't see how that helps the Sixers. They really have no incentive to get involved in this trade.

Hey all. I've been on the If-Rondo-has-to-go-I-hope-it's-to-Dallas bandwagon for a bit now. Think it's a good fit for you, and that a trade to a contender will revitalize him. Rondo's one heck of a unique player, with some odd, glaring strengths and weaknesses, but, in my view, his single greatest attribute is an ability to learn his teammates and put them in positions to succeed. Yeah, that's a really amorphous, intangible thing, but I think that, after he settles in, you're going to get every bit as much out of him as the Big Three did. He's not good because he's good himself - he's good because he elevates everyone else.

Frankly, I hope the package is heavier on picks and lighter on Wrights (not going to clog the thread with the math, but it is possible to get it done without Wright). Obviously for the C's this is a clear tank move, so I'd rather up our value in picks by letting you keep all your impact players.

This would be awesome, but every time the Mavs are involved in something the Rockets are involved as well. This trade is going to come down to assets and picks. We may have an edge on assets compared to Houston (because of Brandon Wright), but I'm not sure if the Mavs can pull it off. We will see.

PG - Rajon Rondo/JJ Barea
SG - Monta Ellis/Devin Harris
SF - Chandler Parson/Richard Jefferson
PF - Dirk Nowitzki/Charlie Villanueva
C - Tyson Chandler/Greg Smith

Assuming Brandon Wright, Jameer Nelson, Raymond Felton and Jae Crowder gets traded. Hoping we could add JO and/or Ray Allen, but that's asking wayyyyyyyy too much.

Rondo will look like a near max player with your sqaud but he doesn't look like one now with his squad. Danny can't take that risk and resign him at that money with no veteran squad around him. Our team is way too young.
