Mavs can go a variety of ways, depending on who is targeted in free agency and who we decide to keep. Grant would have been my pick, not sure why the Raps would go after him when they have a big back up PG already in Vasquez.

The reasons why we take Wright-
- Age, Carlisle doesn't like young players
- We need a bigger PG to pair with Monta for defensive purposes
- Can shoot the 3, Hunter dropped right off in his Junior year
- Has a 29.5 PER, the best of the remaining guys except for Upshaw

All signs point to us taking Tyus Jones. Honestly, I just hope we trade the pick

Monta is gone... You will just waste Dirk last years and we just need parsons to have the ball more... That is not possible with Monta "Hero Ball" Ellis

We will trade down almost certainly, but I would take Hunter or Harrell if we sit there. But I think we trade down and when we do I want us to take the Upshaw gamble. Likely to bust and be out of the league, but if this guy ever gets it, he's a potential steal as he is a physical freak.

Almost the way I see it...I'd take either Hunter or Harrell at 21 if Grant is gone.
Wonder if Lakers would trade 27 and 34 for 21 and 52.
But probably more realistic would be trading 21 for Brooklyn 29 and 41 maybe involving Felton and Jack.
Or even 21 for T-Wolves 31 and 36 and hope Upshaw and Rozier are still on the board.
It would be nice to have a low 30s pick to take Upshaw to limit risk. I'd be shocked if he's there after 31 though.

Does it matter? Will Carlisle even play a rookie as a starter?

Lets just hope Grant is still on the board...can't imagine the Mavs passing on him.

Given who the Mavs have been bringing in for visits, I think it is likely they will look to trade down. I don't like the idea myself, but its what I would bet on.

I have been high on RJ Hunter for a long time. He is a great shooter who has shown the ability to create his own shot even against tough defenses. He has good size for a SG too so while his defense may not be great right away, he has the size and ability to be a good defender. Overall I like his upside the most and think he could easily become a good starting SG in the future.

Other than Hunter, there are a few other guys I would be okay with drafting. Payne and Grant are probably #2 and #3 on my list if they somehow fall to us. We could certainly use a PG but Im not sure I want a rookie PG starting. Wright is another PG in our range but Im not as high on him. As for other wings, I also like Hollis-Jefferson and Anderson. RHJ cant shoot to save his life but he is possibly the best perimeter defender in the draft. He could be a SG/SF version of Aminu right away. Anderson is the prototypical 3-and-D SG/SF. Not a great shooter in the past but this past year shot great. He could come in and be a Danny Green type player pretty fast.

1) Even more signs point to Houston taking Tyus Jones at #19.
2) I can't see us picking a guy who just turned 19 if a more established player fits the range.
